not impossible actually.

In many countries, bridges have weight restrictions for vehicles. Not saying it was the case here but it's a possibility. Need more info to ascertain the root cause.

Yeah but the thought is just shuddering.

As you know, I worked in Shanghai last year. Earlier this year there was an industrial accident where a Merc showroom collapsed and killed 10 people. It was actually quite near where I stayed in Shanghai and I may have passed by it a few times.

So it's just the thought of, it could have been me, if I happen to be so unlucky.

Yah, when I drive in Germany, often seen a sign before the bridge show the weight tolerance for the bridge.
