The owner could have better off put a 500 badge than putting a Maybach, which in this case it is not AND also cheapen his ride image.

There has been a joke circulating around that Mercedes-Benz changed the numerical nomenclature of its models because of the Singapore market (which has been quite a strong market for them)!

Several years ago when Singapore taxi companies brought in the E220 CDI for their limousine fleet, many local tow-kays (bulk of whom were driving the E200) kpkb. They felt that they has been humbled, or malued. Suddenly any man-in-the-street could ride on a Mercedes-Benz and seemingly superior or more upscaled model too, just because the number 220 is greater than 200, didn't matter if it was a diesel engine, for the general public didn't care about the technical stuff and just treated the label numerals as such.

So our local tow-kays in order to save face, they detached their E200 badge and pasted over somethings like E230 or E250 etc, and I heard from the horses' mouths like many even went to CnC and banged tables that they would boycott the brand if they didn't enhance the badging labels on their cars!

So CnC feedbacked to MB HQ and the latter decided to restructure their models nomenclature.

You really believe C&C has any leverage over Mercedes Benz global? More likely they will tell these "towkays" go suck cock.
