at this price .. would a new Honda make it more attractive?

This is even more insane...

But prices for alot of iconic JDM cars (or what people deem as modern classics) have been on the rise in recent years...

Spotted this nicely maintained Mitsubishi FTO (Facelift) yesterday evening.

Fun Facts:

  • FTO stands for "Fresco Turismo Omologato" (Fresh Touring Origination in English), and it was first used on the rear wheel driven Galant FTO Coupe back in 1971.
  • The FTO was originally mean for Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) but after gaining popularity overseas (through PI) Mitsubishi decided to have it exported to selected countries, including Singapore from 1997.
  • This front wheel driven FTO uses a 1,998cc V6 engine, with a max output of 200ps

Nice car but it shall remain here in this rare car thread. All odds are against this 3.5L Hyundai Palisade:

  • Annual road tax of $3,304
  • FC of 8Km/L or lower (city driving)
  • $20K - $25K VES surcharge which increase it annual depreciation

2.2D might be more sellable but sadly the latest announcement by LTA to stop diesel car sales by 2025 is the last nail in the coffin. Hopefully it can reincarnate as a more environmental (read: tax) friendly EV in its next life...

I personally prefer this over its distance cousin, Kia Telluride, which look a tad too boxy / American imo.

One of the specialist hospital is near my office where a few RX7s and some body panels could often be seen.

As for the RX8, I came across this quite some time back in a HDB, not sure what is the story behind it but there's a thick layer of dust covering it. Quite uncommon nowadays, but not as exhilarating as spotting a RX7.

Mitsubishi was few Japanese using the 2.0L V6 engine in 90s.

I love the 90s  Galant 2.0 V6 , the design look so sporty. And with a sweet V6.

In the 90s, the Japanese make real good cars inside out. The V6 Galant has very nice design interior with many soft touch interior panels too. These days are many hard plastics, and many panel layers which are the ingredient to create the creaking sound.

Yes, the golden era of the Jap car industry. Many 2L Jap cars with expensive 6-cyl engines.

The exos note of the Galant VR was intoxicating. The Cressida's iL6 was so smooth and silent and felt so much more lux than the then-current W124. The Nissan Cefiro (A31) iL6 also tok kong but space a bit tight in the rear. Mazda 626 also had a V6 for a short period.

Those were the days.
