You mean CL203 is not as nice as E36 3 series compact? In NVH or other aspects? Unlikely to be performance since CL203 is 1.8 super charged while E36 sold here was using 1.6 NA.

Or do I miss something?

E36 was a 4 pot liao. No more in line 6 for the 2.0.

But the handling was way better in the twisty.

The cl203 did well but the shoved was a tad artificial and the thottle response dont match the leg. But it does move when on demand . The 3 series was more muted in pick up.

The fit and finish of the bmw was also lacking in a few areas. The tail lamps had a huge lobang that you can peek into .

Probably the first batch of africa udm.

The good thing about the merc was the comfortable seat and the stretch out leg position .

E36/E46 320 and up are all inline 6. All from Germany. 316/318 are the 4 pots. Compacts did not have 320. Either 318 (4pot) or 323(il6).

E90 320 and below are all inline4. Earlier cars from Germany.

My mistake..i recalled it was the 2.0 as it says 318 2.0 as i was sure it was 2.0 .

You test drove the E36/5 or E46/5? There several different engines used between the 2 gen.

E36/5

This compact is so ugly! I had the E46 325Ci before, which would still look OK today.

E36 had the 318i and 318iS with different power outputs as well. I vague recall it being 113hp vs 140hp.

It was the cheapest BMW for someone to own a BMW.
