To each their own haha, I too had a hard time convincing my other half before placing the deposit. She felt the other cars in the segment look much better and provided better value.

To be honest, it's pretty much in a segment of its own. Reviewers compare it with the X1 and XC40, but those are smaller cars. Bump them up to X3 and XC60 and you'll be comparing it with the GLC already. That's even aside from the fact that Singapore only has the 7-seater version of the GLB.

I have to agree that opinions on how it looks are...divisive though haha.

Agreed! The GLB is a confusing vehicle, both in the looks department and its segmentation. For myself I was in the market for a sub-compact SUV/crossover, and did not necessarily need 7 seats. Hence, I benchmarked it against other smaller/entry-level SUVs like the X1 and XC40 like you said, and even the new GLA. Though in terms of physical size, it really is closer to the compact-SUV market, even out-sizing some.

To further complicate things, buyers that actually need the 7 seats would then be comparing it against MPVs and other 7 seater SUVs like Landrover Discovery Sport.

Test drove last week. Dashboard is impressive. Engine noise was a little loud, especially in sport mode. Third row is alright, better than 216 GT IMO. Had 3 adults and 1 10 year old in the car during test drive - quite ok. Considering buying but would like to hear from those who have bought.

Yes.. interest to see which PI can allow test drive to have a feel personally..

Can share? Appreciate.

MB SG is doing a virtual launch of the GLB next Tues (22 Feb). Maybe they'll reveal prices and models then - similar to the GLA launch.

My salesgirl said may be launched in Oct 2020. Prices I estimate should be $10k more than GLA200. Now COE is high and so car price will be high too.

Any updates after the launch on FB? Better still any SE contacted anyone to update prices and specs?

Expand

I did a check with my SE - they apparently have only been told that the car will be here in Oct, with no indication of the lines/models yet.

I guess maybe we can use what Malaysia has as a gauge in the meantime? Their models/prices are out already.

GLB 200: RM269,118,

GLB 250: RM318,009

Saw a PI (Edmund Motor) GLB last weekend in the workshop doing PPF and Ceramic coating.

The last row seat looks to fit children more than adults.

BMW 216GT also same. To be fair most mid size MPV last row cmi. It's more of a 5+2 n not a full size MPV so for short trips with occasional 7 passengers only.
