I think will be a good time to trade in my 3er for a XE/XF in 3-4years time when Wearnes do massive discounts to capture market.. Haha

Sounds like it will be an interesting car!!

The longer-geared XE rarely feels sluggish, mind, and its engine is happy to sit at very low revs without labouring. You just need to think a bit further ahead when planning overtakes or when accelerating down a motorway slip road. That’s about our only criticism with the way the XE drives, though. It outshines the BMW on twisting roads, darting into bends more eagerly, and staying flatter and more composed. The Jag grips harder, too, and has steering that’s quick and precise without making the car feel nervous at high speeds. That’s important given the high number of motorway miles many executive car buyers rack up. Not that the 3 Series is even remotely sloppy. It still handles sweetly and its steering, although slower than the Jag’s, actually streams a bit more information to your fingertips. However, the relatively high-walled tyres fitted to our Efficient Dynamics test car could do with more grip – especially in the wet. - See more at: http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/jaguar/xe/jaguar-xe-vs-bmw-3-series/1331221#sthash.AOXPilIk.dpuf

Those of us stretching our necks for any news of the XE's local launch, some news, courtesy of paultan.org:

And also, another review and a load of nice pictures where it matters:

I wonder why he only mentions A6 and 5 series neglecting to mention XF [if you need to carry rear passengers regularly] ?

"Neither car is particularly spacious as premium saloons go. You’ll want to look at larger executive cars such as the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series if you regularly carry adults in the back."

This quote is quite amusing on the topic:

Then again, perhaps we are looking at the XF the wrong way. Its chief engineer, Mick Mohan, is fairly frank on the subject, saying, "We are not in the transportation business. We are in the entertainment business."

So the XE competes head on with the 3 series and the XF competes with the 5 and A6, but not on rear passenger comfort or other such plebeian transportation concerns! Classic Jaguar. [laugh]

yea confirmed price was well,

actually $207,988 after finance discount -> $202,988.

Pricey; might not sell well.

Then again have to see the specs and which engine they brought in.

2.0 petrol, 200ps version, available in either 'Prestige' or 'R-Sport'' variants only.

Former comes with 17 inch rims, latter 18 inch, different veneers and sports seats; the rest of the equipment being the same.

R-sport has different bumpers and skirtings thou.

Am glad they brought in R-sport version. :)

If XF is priced at $199,999 (as per Sat papers ad every week), how can XE be priced at $203,000?

The existing XF is an outgoing model (all-new XF already revealed); XE is an all-new model.

Just heard due to COE drop, the XE is starting at 199,999 now.
