I think it is just a way to ensure everyone is as law-abiding as much as possible.

 

Considering they have 1.4 billion pple, I guess they really need technology to manage crime and social behaviour. Can only hope that their AI is accurate in judging the behaviours before giving out the credit score.

With such a large population and rapid development, unfortunately many are physically in the cities but behaviour and thinking is like in the villages. Cases of throwing coins into aircraft engines, opening aircraft doors to protest, and other irresponsible behaviour - so inevitably need this kind of social credit system to regulate.

 

But flip side of coin is that the system can also be used to blacklist people who are on the wrong side politically.
