So a show of hands, how many would work 830 till 11pm 6 days a week and throw in a couple of sundays

On a microeconomic, it possible

But on a macroeconomic as a nation, it's not sustainable

That why the low birth rate and depression has set in

First job was like that. Crazy, unpredictable hours. But company paid overtime so it was great for someone looking to build savings and experience quickly. Did for 3 years, then moved to more regular hours till now can go back on the dot especially with adoption of online productivity tools. Crazy hours still ok when young and unmarried. We were all made of sterner stuff [laugh]

Typical chinese philosophy of bearing suffering first, and enjoy later, but society's values are changing

I once met this petite PRC lady on a flight back from Nigeria and just chatted abit, she was about 35 and was the sales head for Africa for her company that sells trucks and heavy equipment. She would often fly solo to different parts of Africa to check their satellite offices and negotiate contracts where the local sales team had difficulty securing. Have to say some of these PRC's are fearless LOL

My office used to have a platoon of young prc ft too.. am entire room given to them as office. It's operates literally like 7 eleven.. eat there sleep there until people complain of bad smell.
But can't blame them.. where can they go?? Even late at night, many would hang around using the computers to video chat with families back home.

Anyone who say local don't work as hard as cheaply, I say... you come do la talk so much.

Id welcome her here, honestly...Africa seems like a blindspot for Singapore.

She'd be someone who deserve the moniker FT.

Btw.. how'd you end up in Nigeria? Helping some prince recover millions in lose funds?

True, China is really carving a piece out of that market

Oh me ah, now market bad have to serve my Nigerian HNWI like this dude below  [laugh]

Kidding we're doing a bank wide project audit which touched on multiple countries, unfortunately they selected Nigeria to be in the audit (no surprises there in some way)
