About 40+ yr ago, my father and my grandmother went back China a few years after locating my long-lost uncle. My father/grandma stayed in a small hotel in XinHui town, and my Chinese uncle's family, all walked one whole day from the village to meet my father/grandma. According to my father, after checkout, the hotel told him got problem... then brought him to the room, and saw that our relatives took almost everything that could be taken, including bulbs, towels, etc... My father had to ask them to return all those stuff and apologised... But that was a time when China hasn't even started to open up, and it was not easy to visit China (and far more difficult for Chinese to go overseas). Foreigners would use å¤æ±å· to buy things, as many things can only be bought by it. The locals use 人æ°å¸ instead. With the living condition and standard being so poor, and the country was so culturally/educationally so backwards then, it was understandable that the people behaved that way. Fast forward to 2019, and these seemingly affluent Indians also doing the same... hopeless... Had a different type encounter with prcs. On a flight, had a large prc tour group. Many are very elderly, could be some community or what.. Problem was with toilets. I suspect they are first time travelling, many didn't know : must q for toilet. This happened while I was visiting Universal Studios in Sentosa...just 3 weeks back There was this family of Indians tourists behind me in the queue for the Puss In Boots ride....between us were 2 other families...The queues as you know for those who visited Universal Studios were those long straight zig-zag types. Apparently the particular Indian family didn't like the long queue and wait in the hot weather...so sensing an opportunity they removed the elastic barrier band, (sorry I cant give a proper term for this but is those detachable elastic chords meant to separate lines of queues) and helped themselves to jump all the way to the second line in queue for the ride. Apparently the park wardens were too beezy to notice and those people whose queue was cut by them were told off by them to mind their own business. Im not sure whether they are tourists or workers here on work permits but I clarified subsequently they were not locals. Their behavior left a bad taste in everyone's mouths that day. Really really deplorable behavior. I heard so much about these ceca folksReally cmi Last time I bought 2 years of universal studio annual pass with express when kids were younger But damn bloody worth it While the new transformer rise just open, the queue is at least an hour long With the express pass, my kids took at least 10-15 times per day Average number of rides per day was about 30-40. When I went to check out, the Front Desk staff immediately asked politely to confirm If I had consumed a couple of drinks from the mini-bar as it showed on their system the drinks were removed. In actual fact, I usually move some of the mini bar stuff to make room for stuff I get from outside (e.g. yogurt, milk, bottled water). So she explained that each time any of the items away are removed, it's automatically detected and sends notification to the central computer. They shouldn't say Indians. They should say Indians only from India. This is a national issue not a race issue. Indians born in Singapore are very different than from India. Just like Chinese born in Singapore are so different than those born in China. The Singapore born Chinese has more in common with the Singapore born Indian than those born in India. Its funny if a man is French but born in England and calls himself English. But a French man born in Canada calling himself Canadian is so natural. Anyway I like ladies from Japan you won't read this hotel with a sign Dear ladies from Japan please behave yourself at breakfast. Anyway this hotel is a business and they should follow Jamesc's no 1 rule of business. Good customers keep bad customers sent to competitors. So keep the young ladies from Japan. People from India sent to other hotels. Even people that are not racists when it comes to renting out their condo prefer Korean and Japanese. I had bought some fruits and moved some of the stuff inside the bar fridge and a few days later I got a nasty bill for some usd20/- for chocolates and had to slug it out with the Credit Card company and then hotel, seems there are sensors which detect movement but the sillyness is that they never send anyone to go check personally and room service also never bother to check befor ethey shoot out the charges ... they just auto generate the charges ... too smart tech but not intelligent enuff to sense shuffling of items Nowadays some hotels have really advanced bar fridges with sensors. In my case, I think the service was excellent in the sense that while they have it on their system that you have 'moved' or 'consumed' the items, at least they do a verification and confirmation on their end before making any billing to you upon check out; which is polite and fair. Was in small group of mixed local and tourist gather at the track side take picture of a small creature. Then this prc family come decided to just bashed into the vegetation to take close up. I was so embarrassed I quickly left. I shouldn't.. but I did. I was on a flight and across the aisle was a non-india family seated surrounded by India tourists. The tourists talked and passed items through them like the family was not there.
