Newest Santa Fe interior really beats older Sorento. Now the new Sorento is catching up with Santa Fe, maybe exceed a bit. Build quality outside wise should be exactly the same lah

This Sorento is built on a totally new platform, so the current Santa Fe will eventually be built on this as well.

This is not about priority or not priority.

It is a very simple fact that the factory producing the Sorento in Korea where our supply comes from will switch manufacturing to the new model after the launch, and after a certain period of time it is not possible to order the old model anymore la. So if C&C continues to sell the Sorento and Kia allocates supply from Korea, it will automatically need to launch the new model here. No need to think too much.....

Or they can be like BM... stock up plenty of G11 Altis in SG so that they will have G11 Altis to sell long after the Thai factory switches over to the current G12...

Our G12 took almost 6-7 months to arrive here after Thailand started selling them

The Sorento is at least twice the OMV of Altis if I remember correctly, and don’t sell the volume like the bread-and-butter, mass-market Altis. C&C does not keep Sorento inventory like BM, and they don’t need to lock the capital like that. Buyers can wait. Also the lifecycle of Korean car models are shorter than the Japanese so stocks can become obsolete quickly.

As far as I know (or guessed) C&C booked some units or build slots from the factory while they take orders locally. After order placed need to wait for some weeks before the car arrives in Singapore. I think I waited 2-3months for my Sorento previously. Perhaps they kept some stocks locally but I don’t think they have many of them in the warehouse.

Yes very hard to find ready stock for sorento. Need to wait at least 3-4 weeks

It depends on what you're looking at... the discussion was whether this or that model will be brought in... it all depends on whether the AD feels that model will sell... hence given that you get a couple or more of model refreshes over the entire KIA lineup in a year, C&C would definitely target the replacements where they can make money... an AD must have a sufficiently good lineup otherwise the footfall in the showroom will drop drastically... so for C&C and KIA, surely new models like Cerato or Stonic or even Sorento will be prioritized over updates to Sportage or Stinger or Optima... the first 3 models are their bread and butter... that's just what I'm trying to get across... the bottomline matters when looking at which models to bring in and which to promote strongly...

This is wishful thinking to me. Current Sorento is being sold at $153k, how can newer version be so much cheaper?

I fig it will be ard Mazda CX8 price of about $150-160k when it is here at the 2nd half of the year. This Sorento OMV should be quite high considering the kind of kit and build quality Kia is offering these days

Of cos C nC can always stripped out the interior and cheapen the car to bring it back to $140k

Was told during the road show in Jan 2020 that the new Sorento will only hit Singapore earliest end of this year.... could'nt wait so went for the Santa Fe instead as the older Sorento really CMI if you compare to the newer models.

Everyone is jumping onto the stupid cinematic wide screen ratio for the dash display... I wonder how it affects usability especially when it comes to navigation where a taller screen will show more of the map... easier for making decisions especially when you're not familiar with the roads...

More of the “stupid cinematic wide screen ratio for the dash display”

does it affect usability especially when it comes to navigation?

Will a taller screen (presumably from an upright phone) show MORE of the map, this making decision making easier?

Answer to both questions is NO!

Automotive Engineers and software Engineers are more intelligent than you think!
