Liverpool Football Club - It is time to end the 30 year wait

To be honest, at this stage of the Champions League, there are no weak teams. Every team is also beaming with confidence thinking that they can go all the way to the finals and lift the big ears. Let's recall when the group stage teams were announced. Other than Napoli, we thought Genk and RB Salzburg are easy meat but look at what we got in the end. Both can actually cause harm.

To be the champion, you need to beat the best. I rather we faced a tough team early more than late. If we cannot progress further, the team can then concentrate on the remaining cups that are available. If we get the lesser teams now and progressed further into the competition but get ousted at the last hurdle, that will hurt us more.

think Aletico Madrid was one of the worst draw in the hat. however, avoided the other Madrid club which will definitely be the worst case.

A. Madrid isn't really firing on all cylinders this season but they are really experienced club in the UCL and in such knock out ties.

As much as this wasn't a kind draw for us, the same can definitely be said of them. I am sure every club wouldn't come to be drawn against us. Pool hasn't lost a 2 legged tie in any competition for the last 5 years.

Expect the tie to be very tight but still expect Pool to prevail.  A. Madrid is very good and solid as a unit but  this season, without Costa and Gizeeman, it was expected that they will struggle for goals.  Hence Pool need to keep it tight and use the qualities of the forwards to nick in a goal or 2, which may prove to be enough to settle the tie.

Liverpool mentality after winning the UCL is a much different animal.

Key edge over competition now is the confidence, experience and "fear" factor esp at Anfield.

No change to the team players - stability and continuity.

No change to the coaching staff - all good!

Final held at Istanbul - good omen of things coming

Pool lost 5-0 to AV in the Carabao cup.  Meaningless to say the least with a team averaging < 20 yrs old vs men.  it was truly a game of boys v men, nothing more than a training match for those youngsters most can now lay claim to have represented pool in a competitive match.  This would go down to the first domestic loss for the season, and the first since Pool lost to wolves in the FA cup tie this Jan.

the football association got what they wanted which was a tie completed. what they didn't realised is that it just showed how poor their planning was with regards to a UCL winner who has to compete at this time at the CWC.

What a facade.

Henderson as center-back 🤨

Read that VVD is ill?

yup heard he was taken ill. Pool did a disguise with VVD training on tuesday whenn cameras were rolling. Once out of the public eye, he left the training pitch.  It is currently a doubt whether he will recover by Sat to play in the final against Flamengo.

Besides having to play Hendro as the CB, I felt the lineup was pretty odd. Milner was playing RB. The midfield 3 was Ox, Keita and Lallana.  This doesn't look very stable defensively. The front 3 were Origi, Salah and Shariqi, with both Mane and Bobby on the bench.

Eventually, Klopp has to bring out all the tools - TAA, Mane and Bobby to break the stalemate in added time.

Not a vintage game and it shows the type of challenge of the thin squad which Klopp is having to walk a very tight rope from now to the end of the festive period.

Yesterday reported that Liverpool coming signing Takuma Minamino was at Pool doing medical.  :we-all-gonna-die:

After that no more news. :wut:

Did Liverpool signed him ? :slow:

the window officially opens only on 1 Jan so there cannot be any official annoucement at this time yet.  These medical news by media are good enough and both player/club has not really done much to refute the news.

The german league has started the 2 months winter break..  so that explains why the player was released to do the medical at the first instance.

Notwithstanding a disaster the scale of Fekir

I think is done, always Klopp's stance to not comment on non confirmed matters.

Thanks to inspired performance from our Yachine Trophy winner to keep us in the game

Trent's assist for the senor firmino was worthy of winning any final.

Gomez body language in the monterrey equalizer was so comical, left the striker open cannot read the danger. This boy has the physical for a good defender barring injury. But his decision making and lack of concentration is hampering him from becoming a great defender. If no improvement, at most a valued squad player.
