I think so too, if these ports are strategic, Chinese SOE would have bought it. Anyway, the Panama ports are in US backyard, how to fight if people don’t want you there.

But funnily they only want your money. I rarely hear they are willing to give any overseas Chinese who are willing to “return to their roots” citizenship.

According to US , they won't even take back their own prc illegal immigrants from US, but don't know what's the details. 

My late grandpa last time also like that,  he born in Malaysia,  but everything is China number one in his heart,  always want send money to distant relatives 🤦‍♂️

Since 2017, PRC is willing to give PR if can ancestor from China.
