Protester Iona Boswell, a 40-year-old social worker, told AFP said there was “no need for a mega embassy here” and that she believed it would be used to facilitate the “harassment of dissidents”.

Can't be helped. Sell off, at least can make some good money out of the deal.

Don't sell - this bizarre govt under Trump can engineer all manner of pretext to take control of the ports, leading to escalations and everyone lose-lose. Even the Panamanian govt already stand aside.

The Panama deal was done before 1997. 96 or 95 couldn't remember. How could that be under hk national security law.

On top of that few years ago Li did wanted to sell it to a china consortium ( state owned). Apparently the deal broke down over the price. According to news, ccp disallowed extravagant spending, expenditures something along this line. Couldn't remember the details.  Now you has a shenanigan boy going places setting fire wanted to buy. If I am Li of course I would quickly sell it off at high price.

Not only foregin investment. That would be least concern. Do you know how much Li investments arm stretches in hk? Supermarket, public transport, telecom, properties etc...etc...just to name a few.... shut down anyone HK would be immediately crippled.
