These so called activitsts did so much harm to HK.

Investment withdrew, tourists stopped going. Those that can leave the country left. But they left a worse-off HK for those that could not leave and ironically, those that did not take part.

Now they left the whole place with a lot less democracy than before.

And didn't they know they were protesting against an extradition of a murderer? As a result, the murderer remains free.

Rather than blaming them, i will say it XI big big fault.

He cannot tolerate any form of discontent.

HK has always been a centre of information exchange.

Both world benefited from it until Xi big big take control.

HK is quite different from SG, they have the 100% democracy to zero and not easy for them to adapt hence living in their own world, but singapore is zero from the beginning hence nothing to adapt [laugh]

This group are not the one going around causing havoc at the front lines.

Only a few were at the front line. Majority were charged for their involvement in the hk by election which they had won. 90 plus percentage if I remembered correctly.

quoted from our ST

Constitutional crisis’

The aim of the unofficial election primary, which took place in July 2020, was to pick a cross-party shortlist of pro-democracy candidates to increase their electoral prospects.

If a majority was achieved, the plan was to force the government to meet the 2019 protesters’ demands – including universal suffrage – by threatening to indiscriminately veto the budget.

Three senior judges handpicked by the government to try security cases said the group would have caused a “constitutional crisis”. AFP

For ppl who don’t understand, HK National Security Law is addendum 3 of HK Basic Law.

HK Basic Law is HK Constitution.

Which country or territory in the world would embed legislation within its Constitution?
Since it was approved by Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, it is the only legislation in HK which Chinese language takes precedent.

HK never had full democracy.

Thatcher sent her best friend fatty Patten to be governor when he lost his seat at the general election. To that point, it was a handful of HKer in charge under the governor, basically handpicked. Patten came in last minute before the handover and started introducing a new system, democracy, seriously p!ssing off the Chinese, calling him the biggest sinner of a thousand years (something like that). Add to that, he finally authorized the building of a new airport with most contracts to UK companies allowing the UK government to take out some of their "investment".

The point is those protesting never really knew HK before the handover so assumed what little rights they had were always there. Older HKer didn't protest unless they were being supported because a) they never had democracy when young and b) the governor and citizens then didn't give two sh!ts about who ran the country so long as everybody had a place to live, and a way to earn a living.

Even in US. similar crime punishment is up to 20 years in jail or even death.

Many are detain with trial.

Sedition is the most serious crime in almost all countries after murder and drugs.
