teachers were in fear of their registration being cancelled retrospectively by the Education Department for them attending protests or teaching key parts of Hong Kong's history.

Beijing imposed new national security laws on the former British colony in July. They prevent, curb and punish dissent, threats to the Chinese state, pro-democracy or independence sentiment. Those convicted face up to life in prison.

"The threat is there," said Liu. "Teachers don't even get their registration cancelled for hitting students but they do for going to protests. Government officials are suggesting putting webcams in classrooms to monitor both teachers and students. Once the webcam is installed, the data can be transferred to China directly.

"I can't see a future of academic freedom," he said.

Teachers at international schools in Hong Kong, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to concerns about their employment, said school administrations have been terrified of upsetting the Hong Kong government and Beijing.

btw

The unnecessary and sometimes excessive use of force by police against protesters exhibits the very systemic racism and impunity they had taken to the streets to protest

those ppl that kpkb about hk police, suddenly become blind🤣🤣

It is stupid to compare what HKPF done against US of A.

US of A has always been nasty in that respect.

HK has only 1 HKPF.

US of A has thousands of PF with different training and standards.

Never max out the taser output, scared the fellow die of heart attack.

Wonder what Shan will say.

So many cannot subdue one fellow who’s down on the floor.

Why never put the knee on the neck? 😆

There is a longer version.  Before the pull of stun gun. The hilarious part they let him wrestle free and than the stun gun.

I wondered how much of our taxed $$ are spent on those tasers. Really CMI. Better to spend the money to properly train our men in blue. Looking at the video, thought I'm looking at NPCC kids. Sham better come out and explain a bit.

“Our men were composed, measured and proficient in handling the incident with highest degree of professionalism the world has never seen before.”
