StreetFight3r 6th Gear June 3, 2019 Share June 3, 2019 A fire broke out at Thailand's famous Chatuchak weekend market on Sunday (June 2) night, resulting in two injuries and damage to 200 shops. The fire, which started near Gate 1 of the market, was reported at around 9.15pm, and the blaze was brought under control by firefighters around one hour later, according to the Bangkok Post. About 20 fire trucks were deployed to the scene in Chatuchak district, The Nation reported. Witnesses said they saw flames and heard sporadic explosions. According to the market's website, Gate No. 1 is located near sections of the market that sell mostly books and collectibles, as well as food shops and cafes. ↡ Advertisement

Mockngbrd Supersonic June 3, 2019 Share June 3, 2019 (edited) Sad man... but considering how haphazard it is and how little fire prevention measures are put in place, was just something waiting to happen. But yea, hope the pets didn't die. :( According to the map, pets is not very near Gate 1. Edited June 3, 2019 by Mockngbrd
Tianmo Hypersonic June 4, 2019 Share June 4, 2019 cannot imagine if the fire had started earlier. With the way the shops are layout and the kind of crowd on weekends, it could easily be 200 shops down and a few hundred ppl casualties..

Jayy25 6th Gear June 4, 2019 Share June 4, 2019 actually the place overhyped and getting expensive day after day..... the place to hang out is the market area opposite platinum. they are the real wholesalers and in fact Chatuchak or MBK vendors take their stock from them. anyway hope those animals are ok from the thick smoke.... sigh..... ↡ Advertisement
