Anyone have a link to that photo of the guy walking to start his NS with his maid following on behind him carrying all his kit. They have the land we cannot afford. They have only a population of 100 pupils, whereas our pri schools avg 2000. Branded schools aside, I think at least 80% of neighborhood schools have 80% of their pupils staying within 2km and at least 50% of their pupils walk 5-10 mins to school every school day. Isnt this already working here?

If its lighter, I let her carry it. Here got bicycle and pmd lol. Thought China schools has 20 mins of 体操。 Every morning. That's why the principal started that dance thing right. They have the land and they can design even their own roads and car parks, here even you set up a school in lim chu kang also no where close to what they can do. Our schools are almost all surrounded by flats and buildings, how clean can the air gets? I think you would agree that most pupils walk to school, and there is PE twice a week, plus CCA twice a week for upper pri. In all there is actually no lack of physical activities in school, before and after school. And you are right about the weight of the bag, some schools are just stupid to even ban bags with wheels. I think the heavy bags is the main reason more young girls are having spine issues at a younger age. Do take note and take care of your girl's spine development, both my girls have the same issue, and almost all their female classmates need to go for check ups every 6 months until sec 4. Those heavy school bags if not balance properly, can case the spine to grow wrongly in girls at a young age.
Silver_blade Turbocharged May 20, 2019 Share May 20, 2019 I think the hot weather alone will be a deterrent for any distance more than 2km. Plus, pri school students in the UK do not need to carry any bag cos they don't have text book and pen + pencil are provided by school. Lunch and drinks are also taken cared of by the school.

Cos confirm jam outside school. Lol yah idea is good, but we also have to understand if the idea is workable here, or if there is a need for that to work here. OK lah. Our school got exercise. No lifts in school. Teacher also need to climb stairs. Ha

Ender Hypersonic May 20, 2019 Share May 20, 2019 In term of health for children in primary, I think the MOH or is it MOE has good plan to monitor the child health and fitness. Even my daughter dental report from can be checked from the apps. As from P4 onwards, Napfa test. The 1.6km is not easy for 10 years old. Anyway, I think as parents, we should be the one to ensure our child are fit. Bring them to fitness corner, run, walk in the park.
Victor68 Turbocharged May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 I like the idea of children walking at least 10 minutes away from schools instead of at the school door step. Of course safety is also important. Teachers and now many volunteers can help right? How to do this, I will leave it to the experts. Whilst I don't understand why our children are carrying such heavy bags. Are our students so much smarter and learn more than our counter parts in other advanced countries? Sorry, I lost touch with schooling as my children were all grown up and grand children yet to start schooling. No idea why it is so or it has developed over time
Xers007 Supercharged May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 My daughter has her own locker just outside her classroom, but she still bring all her stationary and some textbooks home everyday which most are not needed at home. Seems to me the teacher never ask them to keep anything inside and as she is still in P1 so she dont dare to put anything in the locker without teacher asking them to. ↡ Advertisement
