Stigma prevent them from coming forward to get tested?? Very unlikely. The sores are apparently painful and no way to hide it. One by one they'll come out to seek treatment, regardless how stigmatized.

27 Jul 2022 09:39PM (Updated: 27 Jul 2022 09:39PM)

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported one more case of monkeypox infection on Wednesday (Jul 27), bringing the total number of infections in the country since June to 11.

The patient is a 32-year-old Singaporean man, said MOH in an update on its website.

He tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, two weeks after developing a fever on Jul 12. He also had lesions on his body, said MOH.

The man sought medical care on Tuesday and was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on the same day.

He is in stable condition and contact tracing is ongoing.

The man's infection is not linked to any of the earlier monkeypox cases, said the Health Ministry.

Monkeypox: MOH reaching out to ‘at-risk population’, including those engaging in high-risk sexual activities

Monkeypox is a viral disease that is typically self-limiting, with patients recovering within 14 to 21 days.

Those who are infected usually experience fever, headache, muscle ache, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills, lethargy and rash.

Of the 11 monkeypox cases announced in Singapore since June, five are imported and six are local. None of the cases so far are linked.

On Monday, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that MOH does not recommend the mass vaccination of Singapore’s population against monkeypox, reiterating the ministry’s stance on the viral disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency.

”The man developed a fever on July 12, and subsequently lesions in the groin area that eventually spread further, said MOH.”

Is this a deadly disease ? :slow:

So far never heard ppl dying from Monkeypox... :wut:

Those who died are in Africa that has no proper medical infrastructure.

It is not a deadly disease but it is the shame and discrimination the disease bring. Much like chickenpox the lesion might leave a scar on the skin and much like it the disease has a limit of 14-21 days. If not treated early the lesions will spread all over the body very quickly, including the hands and face. How to go out and face the world looking like Deadpool? Ok, maybe this is an exaggeration. Once ppl know the affected ppl, how to go about looking for work and pay bills? Like lead a normal life?

Conclusion is that this one is a "poker". I notice that MOH got do contact tracing, and in fact by now i would expect the contact tracing to be very kilat given the experience with covid. But still until now, all the cases are unlinked... Anyway for sure govt knows where are all the gay haunts, so they can do targeted surveillance and education campaigns if they really want to.

No one so geh kiang to go and test if no visible symptoms. Same as for covid. If you well, why test and test? And by the time feel the symptoms, no point to test liao.

I bet they know who gave them the pox but Kay Kay pretend don't know.

They just shy to say which man they rubbed their groin against.

Let's stop discriminating against gay men so they can say who gave them the pox and we can stop this in it's tracks.
