Somehow agree with you. Both Harrier and CX-5 got nice interior but CX-5 score a bit higher.

Exterior wise and NVH, Harrier wins.

But sad that CX-5 is out for me as family complain CX-5 is too cramp in the rear. They don't like it.

sigh...................

The 2nd gen CX5 is much improved as in its interior upgrade and quality. In term dashboard design, CX5 looks better than Harrier (own opinion). For back seat area, Harrier is more spacious than CX5. If most of the time, the car is always having 5 persons, Harrier is a better option. If not, CX5 center back seat being cramped is not much concern. Another strong point of CX5 is the soul red color. This red is no other cars can offer, it is just fabulous. If I am decided to get this car later, red is my only choice.

Is it true that quality of Mazda deteriorate after some years unlike the conti car that last longer?

Can anyone share their purchase package on the CX-5?

Where you heard from? Conti car salesman?

Usually conti cars are the ones that confirm give you all sorts of "interesting" issues after a few years. Just look at the VW threads for example. Usually Japanese makes are less problematic especially for drivetrain.

I think your comparison is spot on and would agree with everything you've said, even with regard to the soul red. I would have a tough choice deciding between the two cars, but having owned both mazdas and toyotas before, I think I would lean towards the Mazda.

Read the news article on how Borneo managed to bring in this special Harrier last weekend. Was surprised to read that this is the first jap car with the latest Toyota Safety Sensing technology which include radar function that can lock on to a car infront and allow the driver to set a safety distance to follow behind where the car will regulate the speed automatically! Another useful feature is the car will recognise the lane marking on the road and alert when detects that the car is mobbing out of the lanes, aka lane departure detection feature. But not sure if these are available across all the variants.

If I were looking at these 2 models, the safety aspects would swing me straight away to the Toyota camp. But that is only my opinion, haha.

The Lane Keep Assist System is already available in top specs Mazda 6 & CX-5....

Somehow Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) was not brought in, I am not sure if it's their system that couldn't pass LTA regulation? I mean they have a Super Luxury trim with all the bells and whistles but left out MRCC.....

OK, got a reply from the SE. They did not want to bring in MRCC as it is going to be costly and not frequently USED. From our text exchanged, he likens adaptive cruise control as just a normal cruise control with the ability to stop when the car in front stops........ It is really much more advance than that

Again , it all comes down to $$$.

Are potential CX-5 customers willing to pay additional $15k for them to bring it in? Mind you, a factory option of say $5K after passing through our LTA, the option can easily triple.

MRCC is useful if only for long route driving, like driving into Malaysia, etc, in Singapore, you will seldom use it. I think one of the more useful features will be the Smart City Brake, this will help minimise front collision like those you see in a 2-3 car accident or having a pedestrian suddenly walking into the car's way.

It's more about how much margin TEK want to make on each vehicle sale

Yes... it's either customer $$$ or TEK's $$$

Either way, the excuse "not used frequently", you know, I know is just sales talk.

Nowsaday there are many "high tech" features in a car but somehow is it really helpful? Unless it is a driverless car, I feel we can go without it.

Just signed the Super-Lux package.

The downside of this package is that it is factory fitted with White leather seat (only). I've highlighted the difficulty in maintaining pure white leather seat and insisted on changing them away..... Even Off-white or Beige color would be anytime better and easier to maintain. Unfortunately, they claimed that I couldn't change the leather color option.

Any tips on how to maintain the pristine condition of this color ?

Thanks

Don't wear jeans or any material that will stain the white leather. Very industrial in cleaning your leather seats monthly if not weekly.

Ban your kids from the car (joking).  :D

Get some customised car seat protector, but that will spoil the looks.

Btw, in the face of the overwhelming BM's Harrier Turbo  force, you chose the contrarian competitor. First of all, kudos to that! But will be keen to hear your decision making process.  [thumbsup]

Lots of car detailers around who can probably clean and refresh the leather if you send it in once a year. Otherwise you can always reupholster it after 2-3 years to a darker shade.
