Anyone using the above mentioned router from Starhub? Any reviews of it?

Am planning a purchase for a new router. Currently using the Asus AC68U. The wifi connection in my master room is very bad once the door closes. worse is when the Mrs and I are using our individual iPads or Macs.

I always though when door close you would be very busy and no time for surfing

Ac routers can only do so much. You may want to consider a mesh router if still not good reception.

I don't have one since I use a separate ac router for my room but my friend recommends.

Don't wish to spend that much and mine is just a 5 room HDB flat. Not THAT big either.  :a-no:

You can consider Asus RT-AC88U or NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S R7800 for an all in one router solution as compare to mesh access point.

Having said that, you need to place the router to be at the center of your house to have the best coverage. If you have too many wall to your bedroom, then mesh access point is the only solution.

Why not just put a long cat 6 lan cable and put your router in the middle room of your flat. I live in 5 room. But my router is in living room. But if its in the middle or 3rd bedroom, my room will have WiFi.

If not use mesh.

Great idea. I should pull lan cables into all rooms. That settles it.  :a-happy:

I am using the same AC68u router and I find the reach to every corner of my HDB flat decent. It's located centrally in my living room. Using WIFI Master apps. I measured at my toilet with one wall partition, signal is still at 65%. And washing machine area (furthest reach with one wall partition) at around 48%. Both have decent speed.

If I changed to 2.4 ghz, the strength at the toilet is 94% (excellent rating) and washing machine area 85%.

I played with the antenna positions, until I see the signal strength rises.  And my WIFI ECO mode is turned on, i.e. the power is at reduced mode to save electricity.  I attached the picture of my final antenna positions for maximum signal strength across my house. It just happens to be the recommended one from website.

Not sure whether red cans are better or blues cans are better

so maybe try both to see which one gives a better signal.

Supersonic

Use the 2.4GHz band, if you have problem connecting.

The higher the frequency, the shorter the range, like 5GHz.

Is yours a very old HDB?

Newer HDBs already have lan cables in each room. Just need to change the faceplate for the phone lines.

Problem is the router is in the foyer. Didn’t want the OpenNet cables to run through my living room after the Reno I paid for to hide all cables, wires and PowerPoint.

Only use 5ghz for products in the living room.

It’s kinda old, maybe 15+ years old already.

Yeah I saw that price tag in Carousell. Some member here wanted to sell it to me at $90.

I don't know if the signal strength is better.

But after many beers, the porn quality certainly looks better.

But don't use too many beers. The antenna may not be able to remain upright.

And I don't like the 8 antenna one. If I wanted something that looked like a dead spider, I just have to look behind the cabinet on which my router sits. That area is hard to clean.

:D
