This topic reminds me of hitch riders who give low star reviews.  so who needs who more?  the car owners need riders, or the riders looking for lowest cost private transport? whilst many old birds still hang around forums, the new gen now hang out in a few whatsapp and telegram groups where they chat almost all day long at a click away.  the high points system still relevant these days?  I have my doubts. 

 

Honestly who cares about the points? A lot of guys who been here about a decade don't even have that many points. Just that they mostly lurk or only participate in the car only more 冷门 threads.

And its not like we can't read or have brains to agree or disagree with what they are saying.
If u r hanging around in threads like say the elantra/avante thread (it used to be Honda Shuttle etc etc etc depending on flavour of the month) where many of the guys are just logging in to find out the freebies to get, or just gian cos they bought the car and hang around for few months. Obviously even if u contribute there, these guys won't give a shit about praising or disliking you.

I have a friend who's been reading forums for the same duration as me, and he has never made a post. He just reads it for info. It's just the way some people are.

The regulars are for whatever reason, Chit chat or contribute to the forum in some way (even if it's something as boh Liao as just being around to tcss)
I know many people think we are damn bo Liao to spend time on forums. Hahaha

The point system does make SOME of us try to edit our post in a more structured way. And hence help improve discussion or make our point in a more coherent way.

 

If there is no point system. Then simply u can just read Edmw whereby 80-90% of the posts are just one liner random thoughts.

 

I won't say it's irrelevant. Anyways the structure of these traditional forums is already two decades old originating from the original message boards. Hence we don't see much forummers here who are in their 20s.

 

I agree. Hwz/Reddit does show that forums still have their day out in the sun.

 

Resetting the point system, I doubt will influence any change.

Its not like having seasons in playing established games whereby u get some new special gear set or what.

I think you need 180,000 points to get 10 mins.

 

With 90,000 you can only get 5 mins.

 

So I gave you 5 more to get more time.
