Supersonic

Some meals prepped by my helper over the past few days.  Good to be back to have home-cooked food after a week in Seoul.

She made white bee hoon with fish slices, clams, squid and prawns.

Finally got to try the hokkien mee at abc market. Had a very late lunch with my parents at 3 plus pm.

I saw some guys sitting around the stall and thought they ordered but was waiting. So I stood in front of the stall to order. Then after asking around, I realised they were waiting for the uncle to start his first order. Haha then everyone stood up and started queuing.

It's very good. One of the best in Sg. But I felt the chilli was bit on the weak side.

But almost all the other popular stalls were closed.

It's hot tiring work. Esp since he's in his 60s? My mum took over the queuing for it. She said the guy very short tempered.

And he was only just starting out his cooking shift lol

This Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Mee (FHM) at ABC food centre is alway popular evidenced by long Qs.

Many regular die-hard customers who comes from everywhere it seems.

Tried once, pretty smooth and flavoured but the chilli is ok only.

(Hated to Q for this FHM because it's so time sapping) :((

Still prefer Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee at Whampoa market because the chilli is ichiban n the Q is workable.

+1 for Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee. Me also a fan of it. Ate it since young, very young. [:p]

Singapore fried hokkien mee felt that standard drop a lot recent years. Ask for more lar and they said no more provide lar. How can hokkien mee without lar.

Similarly CKT without lar is not a proper CKT.

My number 1 choice now is Geylang Lorong 29 hokkien mee at East Coast road.

Trouble is food consumers these days are health conscious. Even my daughter has been conscious about what is in the food we eat, whether it’s too saltish etc n always comments on the unhealthy food I consume. If she see me eat lard, will sure kena earful cos I also feel food cooked in lard is always tasty n appetising

I think lard is better than those artificial vegetables oil.
