Hi,

Nope.  They could not.  Went for a test drive and I could not simulate the issue.  The customer service adviser said the engineer check the mountings and lower arm but could not find any problems.  I wanted to leave overnight next week but they have no slots for me, earliest being 4 Dec.  I have to try to take a video of the vibration issue and send to them, and then make an appointment to send in the car.

I asked them whether if there is any s/w regarding the gears, as the vibration is prominent during 2nd gear to 1st (eg. timing issue) when near stop.  He said there is no s/w upgrade and the car ECU learns our driving habit.  I am not sure if I am being smoked.  I know the ECU learns but it is such a terrible learner?

Doesn't sound too promising. I have given up liao. Do share if you manage to overcome this issue. :)

Prior to brake, put gear into full manual mode and see whether vibration or not.

question for those not on run-flats:

does this car come with a jack?

If not, where do you get a suitable one?

Use Slime Tyre repair kit or equivalents

No need jack or spare tyre

Thanks. I guess with no spare tyres jacks are now redundant (unless i keep a spare in my garden). I'm going to miss some diy.

Good knowledge shared here. I don't frequent conti talk as much but have recently tried driving a nice bro gt. good pickup, almost unnoticeable gear change, excellent nvh, good handling, excellent head / should / leg room for 5. If any improvement maybe 3rd row space, thicker seat pads n more fuss free way of handsfree tailgate operation.

Regrettably, not intending to spend so much for 10-yr ride, n also just read most stuffs, even sit-able one, need to be done by "specialist" / agent, wc may affect decisions of those who wanting to stretch budget a lil more, though not an issue for those who have much more surplus n free svc for next few yrs.

Time flies.. I've "seen open" and took e plunge to get a 216i AT. The test drive in sport mode (intuitive for my drivin style), better sound quality even when listening to radio, usual door closing feel (kids liked it that twas easy to open / unlatch despite door weight), revised ext n int: 17" rims / headlamp design / piano black dash trim / instrument cluster display, 200k km warranty, 100k km bsi, decent trade in (need bargain) helped sealed the deal Edited by Fuelsaver

For those that said Jap car is reliable, let me share my experience.

My 4.5 yrs Honda Stream had compressor failure in it 3rd year (just 1 - 2 months after 3 years warranty lapse), 2 x power steering pump leaking, worn engine mounting, replaced 2x front shock absorber (1 within warranty, the other I pay), and just before I sold it off (with mileage of 148K Km), gear cahnge become a little jerky.

I have a Crossroad for next 4 yrs, replace front shock absorber, service compressor, and the last straw, gearbox jerking at 50 - 70Km/h. Sold it off at 130K km mileage, to save the $9K gearbox replacement cost.

In case you think I never maintain my car properly or wag them like no tomorrow, you are wrong. I never miss my servicing schedule, pay more for better EO, and hardly drive above speed limit.

My current conti, *touch wood* now into it 3rd yr, with mileage of coming to 130K Km, is still running like new (ok, I did replace a headlight module @ $500), and would you believe that I have yet to change my brake pad?! The last servicing (@ 120K Km), I specifically asked if the brake pad need to be replaced, and the service guys told me it can easiliy last another 30K...

I am not taking side, but merely sharing my own experience. I am still sitting on the fence for choice of my next ride...
