Do you find your BMW tire pressure monitoring accurate?

I already had 2 tire punctures in last 6 months.  I installed another set of external tire pressure monitoring systems when I got my ride.  During my 2 punctures, my personal TPMS warns me when pressure drops to 170 psi.  The BMW TPMS still shows tire pressure is OK.  The BMW warning came on only at 100 psi.

Does yours behave similarly?

where do u go to install the external set of tire pressure monitoring system?

I bought mine online from Amazon.com and send over to SG via ezbuy ship-for-me.

You can also find many sellers on Aliexpress, with a choice of internal or external sensors.

If you are using the ABS to measure the Tire pressure. You need to initialize the default tire pressure after you pump the air.

Has anyone of you guys changed the battery of your Gran Tourer ?  How much was it and was it changed at Performance Motors or outside workshop ? My GT is two years old and planning to go up north to Malaysia, wouldn't want to have a flat battery in a foreign land. Thanks for helping !

BMW batteries lasts more than 2 years (usually 4-5 years) as it is not in the engine compartment so it is not subject to heat. (I am not 100% sure where the GT battery is, pop your hood and see if it is in the engine bay)

Don't worry about it and drive up north first.

If you really want to change battery at PML it will cost quite a bit (around $400-600 depending on your battery type) because the BMW battery need to register into the car, but there are some good BMW workshops outside that can do it for less.

Go to EleBest to get the proper original BMW TPMS with the sensor in the valve. It will display the tyre pressure and temp on your iDrive.

If you buy those taobao ones they are ugly and will sit permanently on your cigarette port.

2GT battery at the front but is not in the engine Bay, its closer to the inner engine compartment, nearer to the wiper.

I think and feel changing the batt is going to be a nightmare for outside ws....I think a lot of parts need to be removed before you can get to the batt.

Get PML to test it. Maybe able to claim under warranty.

Battery is in the front for all UKL platform. Confirm only last 2 years. Seen a lot of Mini calling RSA service for dead battery. My Mini battery was changed under warranty on my its 3rd year.

On TaoBao, can find Philips TPMS. Solar powered

The same Batt replacement for the GT sold from workshop outside PML would costs less than $400 (PML sells around $700).

You can look for workshops as R2D or 2277 or BMS (do Google them up for their contacts). Cheers!

Be careful with this option if car still under warranty.

Outside price of <$400 just for batt or plus labour... careful that there is a lot of parts to remove before you can access to the batt....

If plus labour comes up to $500-$600, might as well go back to pml for peace of mind...
