Remember the OMV tax calculation, so it's not dollar for dollar. You can remove quite a few features:

Electric tailgate, navi, movable rear seats, memory electric front seats, vinyl seat cover, no leather steering, cheaper solar film and many more..

Heck you can even sell it with 6 months road tax / higher insurance and no free service.

Then they might even get a higher margin, and keep the oil burning engine..  [drivingcar]

Are you really sure you know what you are talking about?

Currently, 2GT OMV already 31k with the small idrive screen.  How low can it goes?

Mind you, in Germany, 2GT starts from EUR 33k.

My recent vw sales experience is horrible and quite unbelievable, it was so bad that I didn't want anything to do with them anymore. Traded in my jetta for the 2GT.

i remember one SE told me sarcastically, that everyone who walks in to VW is to buy a VW, after I told SE that I am still doing homework.

i was dumbfounded.

OMV is the commercial value of car declared to the customs of Singapore.

PML can remove some features if the car to make the OMV in Singapore cheaper.

If you see the specs of the European variants it contains more features that are not found in our singapore variant.

Gran Picasso may also be compared, but try sitting on the left & right seats in 2nd row and you will know the meaning of claustrophobic.

never sat on GP before, but i thought it came with individual seats? shld be more comfy..esp for center passenger

Read my posts properly.

If you bother to check, the EUR 33k is before any option added.

Yes, more comfortable and wider but I feel the "drive" lose out to 2GT by a wide margin...

I did contemplate GP but heck, paying so much might as well get the UDM....just me

Among conti I would say Bmw is 2nd after merc. Maybe its personal I would put Bmw over Audi and Merc over Bmw.

I wouldn't go down the PI route for a bimmer anyway, hope you get the car you want!

You're absolutely right. That's why I said that BMWs are not known for their resale value. Even Mercedes in general have slightly better resale value.

Wish is brought out as an example of a car with good resale value.

2GT very niche market without any competition from Merc/Audi/Jag/Volvo. Maybe the VW Touran. But even the Touran is aimed at the Wish.

I have been eyeing the 218i and 220i for some time but going the PI route is a psychological barrier for me. Hopefully PML will start selling Petrol 2GTs next yr.

totally agree with you.

Wish may be reliable, but internal features can never come close to 2GT.

Wish is meant for those who do not need iDrive, BMW Navi, Park Assist, Driving Assistant, ECO Pro. It is also meant for those who do not bother about badge, "pseudo" sheer driving pleasure.

When I checked out Wish, Sienta and even Previa, no amount of money can make them fit the criteria of above.

IMHO, the only one that can go head-to-head with 2GT, is the Touran. Even so local Touran specs are inferior, but in order to beat 2GT, one must go for Sharan, which is still arguably same price as 2GT. But I swore never to put my moolah into VW, not because of gearbox issue, but their sales and customer service is [thumbsdown] .

Gran Picasso may also be compared, but try sitting on the left & right seats in 2nd row and you will know the meaning of claustrophobic.

Interested to know how many of you actually use iDrive, navigation, park assist? Maybe I underutiliZed the features of this car. What appeals to me is the interior finishing and the drive when compared to my previous Jap MPV.

Haha, BMW's polished iDrive system was what made me switch from Mercedes though. I like that the controls are intuitive and that the maps are built in.

when u sit on the side seats, ur shoulders are pressing against the door panel.

of course u can slide towards the center seat to have comfortable shoulder room, but that defeat the purpose of 3 individual seats. further u have a hole below ur bum. not comfy.

if compare those with 3 seats on 2nd row, VW Touran works better. Not sure if Sharan or Touran had integrated child booster seat.

Bro, as i said before, getting PI = barebone BMW.

its subjective. im a sucker for technology and yet i like interior gadgets stock.

so whichever attracts me wins.

i had tried rides with fancy big touchscreens but with dull graphics and performance is sluggish, it is like using iPad 1 today in 256 color .

my favourite now is frickin' big sensus connect on new XC90, machiam Tesla. But no money to get that way...

Actually the navi is very good....at 1st was not bought by it, then started to us it when I go to places that I am not familiar with...and now I am hooked. Almost, most of the time now will use it....just to make sure I am not stuck in a big jam and also helps me to plan ahead....

built-in navi maps may not be perfect and $$$, but beats having another gadget stuck on the dash.
