Rskc 5th Gear September 5, 2016 Share September 5, 2016 Sounds good. Have you tried adjusting the tyre pressure on the 16" to improve the ride comfort and handling? The rubber will be lesser on the 18", thus the notion that the ride will be harsher. Probably also because you pumped more air, thus the ride is better? Understand what u mean :). I like the tyres to be firm. Actually I tried 220/230 after I had the 18" (to soften the harshness after upgrade). It was too soft. Trying 230/245(250) gives me best control cum comfort. A bro in this forum suggested it based on tyre brand/type. For the 16", I pumped 220/230 or 220/240. No matter how I adjust, the ride for both comfy n control lost to the 18". I think the tyre choice makes the diff. 16" was the stock Bridgestone ER300. It is pretty crap n I had once felt I was losing my tail exiting from CTE via the havelock exit (pretty curvy exit if u know). I have none of it now with my P7 although it is a touring tyre. Overall much less wobbly n still comfortable. Both 16" n 18" are RFT. ↡ Advertisement

Munhua 2nd Gear September 5, 2016 Share September 5, 2016 Rft save the day as Bmw tpms quite sensitive. Found a long nail in my front right tire and fix it for 10 bucks. If u use a normal tyre puncture and must change new one. This type of money cannot save as we do not have spare tyre or even tyre repair kit. Agree with all the bro here 18" makes the car drives like a real Bmw 16" drives like Toyota. Period.

If not, you can always get Slime. The dealer is at Shell Upper Thomson road.
Mercury1 Turbocharged September 5, 2016 Share September 5, 2016 Rft repairs best to use internal patch method, it also gives the workshop a chance to inspect sidewall damage. General advise to all using run flats are at first sign of puncture always find the quickest way to inflate the tires, preferably over inflate (20%) or so this way when you drive to the workshop less chance of the sidewall getting damaged and allowing for repair. Do not continue driving using the sidewalls unless you already intend to change the tires. This is from my experience of several rft punctures. If you repair a rft with sidewall damage due to driving too long without pressure it increases the chance of a sidewall rupture when inflated back to full pressure during normal use. David bro, u r the kind bro that help to advise me to pump 230/250 for 18" in the other 3 series tread. It worked fantastically now for my 18". :)

Spring Moderator September 5, 2016 Share September 5, 2016 Anytime, we all want to save our tires and wallets while upholding safety RFT is noisy, heavy and pricey but with the lack of spare tyre, it does give some peace of mind so really half hearted what to change when this wears out, will cross the bridge when I come to it.
Richard_8289 Clutched September 5, 2016 Share September 5, 2016 HI all, my old camry 2.4 due to scrap soon and looking around for a new car and saw this BMW 2 series Gran Tourer. thought it was quite nice and spacious too. but diesel is bit of a noisy. only consolation was the very very good fuel consumption. any bros with comments and advise ? price is friendly too for a BMW... always thought it was out of my reach, was surprise it was at 160+K .. BTW- was actually looking at Peugeot 508 diesel VS the Ford Mondeo 2015 5 doors. 508 seems to be cheaper but the forum has a lot of negative comments of peugeot cars. any thoughts ? Richard Peugeot 508 n Ford Mondeo are 5 seater saloons right? Seems like you don't need an MPV otherwise you would have compared to the Peugeot 5008 instead. Anyway, this 2GT is a mid sized MPV for occasional 7 persons and so it has to be bought with this in mind. Good torque, FC are its strengths. Lack of 3rd row aircon, diesel clatter are its weaknesses but then again which diesel doesn't have clatter and I believe most, if not all mid sized MPVs don't have a 3rd row aircon. Just go and test out with your family and decide. Most of what is good and bad in this car has already been posted previously, good luck!! ↡ Advertisement
