Neutrino Supercharged February 11, 2019 Share February 11, 2019 Used to eat roast chicken in a coffee shop along Changi Rd. That coffee shop has gone, but used to serve a bowl of salt and pepper spice which lifted the taste of the chicken to historic heights. Could buy a carton of that spice in most supermarkets years ago but they suddenly stopped selling it. Dunno why. A few weeks ago ordered some roast chicken in Sunset Way. Not nearly as nice as Changi Rd but they did serve a bowl of salt and pepper along with it. I asked about it and was told they make it themselves. Well I'm not so sure they do. But anyway anyone have any idea where I might buy a carton of this Salt and Pepper spice. It's not quite the same as Seah's Pepper/Salt Prawn Spice mix. ↡ Advertisement

Lol or else won't be so umami A few weeks ago ordered some roast chicken in Sunset Way. Not nearly as nice as Changi Rd but they did serve a bowl of salt and pepper along with it. I asked about it and was told they make it themselves. Well I'm not so sure they do. Lol i dunno why you want to question this. If i make it myself and it's cheaper than buying a commercial mix that everyone else can buy, why not ... I'm sure a hawker's first thought will be "can i make it myself (or is it worth the effort to make it myself) " ...

I see the ingredients are: Salt, White Pepper Powder, Maltodextrin, MSG, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate, Food Additives from Plant Origin I'm not good with MSG but I'll try it. When in Taiwan I used to buy this or similar brand (less than SG$5) - '真好家-Salt & Pepper Powder' Use it for favouring Guava, Fried Mushroom, etc Can try buy online - https://24h.pchome.com.tw/store/DBAIBU or find them in some Taiwanese Supermarket in Singapore. Lala81 Hypersonic February 11, 2019 Share February 11, 2019 The salt must be lightly toasted. haha u don't need to toast salt. It just becomes dry. U can toast whole spices/cracked pepper. But the powder no need to toast.
