guys, what is UHP?

understand that fuel economy tires is not the best performance tires, but what are the fuel economy series?

Just look at the labels on the tyres (most should have them I think) like this, though it doesn't say about dry grip.

Uhp is ultra high performance.  In general in mean the tyre got very good dry grip and is stable at fast speed and bends.

Take note UHP tyres dun mean its the best tyres in rain or wet weather.

Alot of comfort base tyre is as good as uhp going over puddle of water. So if your concern is rain. Then dun go around tyreshop  asking for UHP tyres.

And most importantly UHP tyres is alway low profile. They seldom make higher  then 45 profiles ( its the middle number for your tyre size)

So if u drive a normal car like vezel and use the normal rim. And your tyre is 215.60.16 dun go asking for UHP also. Cos they wont make it for your size

Fuel economy tyres normally mean lower rolling resistance.

Low rollings resistance mean less energy is use and therefore better FC right? So by logic low rollings resistance will mean lesser grip.

But there are tyres shop or tyres that advertise  their tyres is high performance and got good fuel economy  also. ( personally  i dun believe cos its against logic)

Comfort based touring tyres, For Goodyear, is probably efficient grip performance 2 and for Michelin, the primacy 4. Both pretty well regarded.

I just researched, my tyres is 225/40/R18 92Y XL, fuel rating E although wet grip is A, should I sell this to get performance grip... if so, fuel economy will be significantly better right?

dun read too much into those rating

for example a tyre brand xxx with AAA traction rating got have worst grip then another tyre brand zzz with AA traction rating

or tyre brand zzz with threadwear of 400 might just last the same as another brand xxx with threadwear 220

The tyre is never going to make a significant noticable change in fuel consumption. Too much variables in that and it will be more down to driving habits as well as the car itself. The rating itself is some guide but dun get obsessed with it and make it a reason to change tyres!

@loliamsmart Congrats, alot of seasoned drivers used to bring their new ride to his circuit to test test the new tyre, 1st round passing rate is scoring high, one has to tried at least 3 Xs to get a consistent scoring that the desired tyre fulfilled the grip , cornering over humps and sharp cornering plus the usual 3 points turn and hard brakes test over different morning , noon and evening test . I did it on 3 different occasion over a period of 2 months on a hot Summer days few years back.

then I sent my car for a alignment test , the result say a lot about the test. 🚗

@Roberttan Many thanks, I have administered the clearance on ET8.5 on 19 inch rims, and Grilled 380mm Rotor blade, all clearance done. Cheers Brother

one more important issue to take note when you upgrade your Brake kit is the hub center spigot mounting, do make sure your wheels sits on this part otherwise it may cause steering vibration.
