Low OMV could be result of cost savings from factory set up cost, rental n also labour costs. Not necessarily from low quality of parts.

Too simplistic to deduce that quality of car is low due to low OMV.

Volvo cars have low OMV compared to their peers but I don't hear complaints on low quality.

I guess they do not know which batch of cars are defective.So they sell as it comes.  Anyway as a reputable agent, they will rectify FOC during warranty period.

I drive BMW n though my car no issue, there were quite a few who had issues n mind u, my model is made in Germany (216 Gran tourer). So is my car low quality? Maybe but it’s definitely not reflected in the OMV nor place of manufacture.

Warranty repairs by the agent isn't 'free'. They are back charged to the factory. Who would probably back charge to the supplier.

I have no issue with the car after driving for 7 months, travelled about 9k. I am mindful not to turn the steering wheel hard to the extreme end, same as my previous cars.

 

As mentioned, this car is value for money. No regret.

No cost savings to speak of. When you see the low OMV, you will know that its built to  a tight cost so the company can make decent profits. In order for cost to be tight, the quality of the car suffers. And we have people here saying its a great value for money car.

Take a step back and observe the kind of reaction:

 

perceived budget brand with problem = "see lah, I told you it is a cheap car"

popular or atas brand = "see how responsible the manufacturers are to issue recall"

Maybe you are right. Brand status and its perceived image are strongly ingrained in buyers' mind. That is the power of marketing and premium brands do spend a lot building up this image.

How many of the them are affected by the steering problem? Even if it is , this could just be a design or manufacturing defect that they could get fixed, once done and if no other problems, we cannot say the brand to be of low quality.

Even if they know which batch, it is always less costly and easier for them to sell first and fix in the field. As I said in my earlier post if they could have it fixed, if it is a one time problem, we cannot say they have reliability issue.

I would say that Hyundai partnership with Komoco is good. Local agent fixed the problem without pushing it away. Imagine you buy a Honda Fit and go to PI....Not every PI will take the responsibility like Komoco do.

Reliability issue I can say its still too early to tell. Afterall, this is a relatively new model.

just my 2 cents, after test drive M3 (the 2018 one(standard version) and the new avante(elite) in Dec2018 or early Jan 2019), if you really drive cars for a few years, you can tell avante is of lower quality overall in terms of interior design or driving experience...
