Sosaria Twincharged May 5, 2019 Share May 5, 2019 ya....something along the lines you mentioned! Both parties are treading on dangerous grounds with tmj accepting he challenge and the sultan playing mindgames with atok....very bad scenario if this is played out with not only one party losing big time.......I read the Malaysian elites' style of using bahasa plus english interchangeably in one sentence, until I get headache Anyway yes it is a dangerous game both sides are playing pitting the simple traditional folk as pawns against each other. On one hand you have the intellectual elites trying to uplift their society by urging them to embrace modernity fully and abandon outdated mindset i.e. feudalism - where simple kampong folk still unthinkingly subservient to datoks, YBs, royals, boss-ku. I think this is Tun M agenda, which is a good thing if he is sincere about it without other underlying motives.

The king, Raja and Sultan is our identity, it wont be abandoned easily and hey.....its proven time and again when one monarch is taken out, a leader will try to asserts and make his family lineage the next leader. We can name a few right in this region and beyond. So most would rather have the royal lineage of the kings rule over them instead of one whose lineage is suspect. One thing for sure.....the life of the commoners there are not getting any better with more woes so at least as the King he does have the right to voice his worries when he sees his subjects and country is seen as being given a rough ride by atok. Carbon82 Moderator May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 Singapore agrees to suspend construction of RTS Link at Malaysia's request SINGAPORE: Singapore has agreed to suspend the construction of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link until Sep 30 at Malaysia's request, Singapore Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said on Tuesday (May 21). Under a supplemental agreement signed between both governments on Tuesday, Malaysia will also reimburse Singapore for the abortive costs incurred due to the suspension, Mr Khaw said during a press conference with his Malaysian counterpart, Mr Anthony Loke. Mr Khaw said that after several rounds of discussions, both sides reached a “mutually acceptable arrangement” on the way forward. During the suspension period, Malaysia will decide if it intends to proceed with the RTS Link project as it is. Malaysia can also propose changes to the project scope, and Singapore will give any such changes due consideration, he added. “We hope that the RTS Link project will resume at the end of the suspension period – either in its current form as prescribed in the RTS bilateral agreement or incorporating any project scope changes that both sides agree on during the suspension period,” Mr Khaw said. If not, the project will be deemed to have been terminated by Malaysia, and Malaysia will reimburse Singapore for the costs incurred in fulfilling its RTS Link obligations until now, he said. The RTS Link, which connects Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands in Singapore, is expected to ferry up to 10,000 passengers per hour each way. The project was meant to be completed by 2024, but is now behind schedule with Malaysia repeatedly delaying confirmation of its joint venture partner. According to a bilateral agreement signed in January last year, a joint venture company comprising Singapore’s SMRT and Malaysia’s Prasarana Malaysia should have been constituted by Jun 30 last year. The joint venture company should also have been appointed as the RTS Link operator (OpCo) through a Concession Agreement with Singapore's Land Transport Authority and the government of Malaysia by Sep 30, 2018. Both milestones were missed. Malaysia then asked for an extension until Mar 31, to confirm its joint venture partner. Early last month, Putrajaya said it has requested for a further six-month extension from Singapore before making a decision on the RTS. This will enable the Malaysian government to examine several issues including the cost of implementing the project, said Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Singapore expressed understanding for Malaysia’s position and both attorneys-general were tasked to work out a supplemental agreement to give effect to the suspension, similar to the process for suspending the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail. “We will approach this issue as we did for the suspension of the High-Speed Rail project, with goodwill and reasonable accommodation," Mr Khaw said on Apr 8.

Kusje Supersonic May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 Actualli hor, if just 30% of msian workers realli abandon their bikes n take RTS in and hop onto MRT at Woodlands North, the morning peak hour MRT will be unbearable So better save our own $$ n dun build better. Just improve the frequency of the KTM train from CIQ can liao I think it is difficult to increase frequency because it is only 1 track (cannot travel both ways). Also, the demand is only during peak period so no pt buying extra trains. Yes. The Thomson line is already there. Without significant traffic from Woodlands North, its going to be underutilised as the NS corridor density is limited due to sembawang airbase and the multiple camps from nee soon camp onwards. They been running this train for so many years. The last time I take is 19 years ago. I doubt anything has changed in that time lol Last time was better. Can take all the way from Tanjong Pagar to KL.... Now gotta go to woodlands and gotta change train in Johor.

Didu Turbocharged May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 The former MY administration already planned for BRT across JB and connects to Bukit Chagar RTS station. Just google IMBRT. When they can make it into reality of course is a different question like everything else. Woodlands North station already building is linked to the new MRT Thomson line. You're right! Below news article talked about it over the weekend: https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/forget-lrt-johor-wants-to-beat-jams-with-brt Our island is land scarce, freezing up a few hectares here and there due to project-in-limbo might be a good way to mess up its development master plan.
