Lorry altercation with cyclist at Pasir Ris

The law should be revised to indicated that cycling abreast ia allowed only when cycling in a convoy of 10 pax and above.

If there's just a few cyclists, can cycle in a single file.

But ia a large group, =cycling in a single file may lead to  a long distance between the first and last cyclist, so makes sense to cycle abreast

I think this is a good idea.  Also limit a group to not more than 14.  I have seen group with more than 20 cyclists. [laugh]

And mandatory have a vehicle as an escort at the back of the convoy.

Should also define the roads and timing that cycling abreast is allowed. Most of the group cycling are done during non peak hours which I find it very beneficial to both the cyclists themselves and other road users.

ya timing is very important,

just 2-3 weeks ago, ever since pioneer road north expand to 3 lanes many years back.

i saw the first group of recreational cyclists cycling on it toward ntu.

between the soon lee and city harvest . DURING PEAK HOURS evening about 7.

really crazy, so many buses and heavy vehicle on the left lane, i can see them struggling to cycling also,

all the bus want to drop ppl heavy vehicle overtake etc etc

If we need everything to be regulated by laws (down to the dot), I think even autonomous vehicle will be lost (or maybe the programming engineer would commit suicide first)... :XD:

Nope - should disallow 2 by 2 cycling, except from 11 pm to 6 am on roads with at least 2 lanes per direction.  And if more than 5 cyclists in a group, they must be mandated to break into groups of not more than 4 or 5, with at least 50m between groups.

Singapore is not a place for Tour de France wannabe's.  Go France, Malaysia, Australia if want to do that.

Still ok la.

I am grad i can say at least 90% of the bros here have good common sense.

Some argue for the sake of arguing.

Just leave them alone

Maybe here is just a source for them to let off some stream.

Some have too much western influence in them.

Their believe on human rights or any right is bigger then any things .

Leave them alone also.

Juz encountered this cyclist this morning. Guillemard road.

Be careful. If you honk him, he will tear your guts out and eat it.

You are supposed to follow behind him while he rides at 25km/h on the first lane, and keep a safe distance of 1km behind him.

He is more important than you. Face it.

Why don't you cycle all the way to TP HQ at Ubi and ask them straight instead of waiting for their email. Remember to cycle in the middle of the left lane.  [scholar]

Just ignore him, like I did, before he asked you to keep quiet.

Should make it into law that cyclist should use pedestrian crossing when they want to change direction of travel.

When you see the way they change to right lane when turning, i really wonder if they consider their own safety?

Also during turning, some of them still insist to keep to right side instead of keeping left.

I am fine with cyclists riding abreast . After all, this is what the law allows.  But a cyclist has to be responsible enough and also to understand that, cycling abreast is ONLY allowed  IF he/she is not obstructing faster moving vehicles. Otherwise, for the safety of all road users, especially  for himself/herself, he/she better keep to the left most edge of the lane( I am  ok too for cyclist to cycle some decent distance away from the double yellow lines).  Question is how many cyclists could ride abreast fast enough so as not to obstruct faster moving vehicles , including rate of acceleration, constant speed, and deceleration.

I welcome those who strongly advocate cycling abreast to provide their views.
