Playtime Twincharged December 2, 2018 Share December 2, 2018 That's why median rather than mean (average) is favoured for reporting statistics. It hides the raw data better.Actually... as long as they don't reveal the data minus pr and new citizens... mean or median, we will NEVER see the real picture. And the only reason is the picture looks bad for some reason.. they will never miss a chance to show off... I hope opposition bring this up in parliament.

If any US politician were using tax payers money to fund foreign students the way we do, the fella will be out of govt very quickly. I don't know the American education system that well.. Maybe he was half joking... But with Americans complaining about student uni debt, he has a point. Edited December 2, 2018 by Playtime

It won't be easy because all data is held by govt bodies. For oppo to bring this up they often have to trawl data from public sources. Even then, easily rebutted with the public sources being questioned. Followed by demands to apologize. Same old story.

Voodooman Supersonic December 2, 2018 Share December 2, 2018 To attract IT consultants from MIT, Stanford or Berkeley, do we have any top names locally to attract them? We can't even attract talents from Tier-1 China cities. Grab founders are from Harvard leh.... Lol
Victor68 Turbocharged December 2, 2018 Share December 2, 2018 So did we attract talent, if not all these are and we are flooded with? So, are we concern with construction workers and maids? Either we don't speak proper english or our top guns cannot understand our english.

Citing statistics from a handbook published by the Lien Centre [for Social Innovation] at SMU [singapore Management University], Prof Koh noted that "there are between 100,000 and 140,000 households that live in absolute poverty ... meaning, they are unable to afford basic needs." "In addition, according to the handbook, there are between 20 to 35 per cent of our households that live in relative poverty," he added, which means that "their incomes are less than 50 per cent of the median income." "Our median income today is $4,400, so 50 per cent means $2,200," he highlighted. Thirdly, Prof Koh argued that "there are too many workers in Singapore today who do not earn a living wage".

Tommy is a brilliant mind. The mini-stars so used to always talking "down" to people who are of lesser status and less experience, e.g. to the general public, auntie/uncle, ah-gong/ah-mah, and students. Now, facing Tommy, all their "arguments" are rebutted with data, they can only keep quiet after a while. Edited December 4, 2018 by Sosaria

At least sue in own capacity, not using government to sue. So that itself is okay what. Anyone can sue anybody for defamation. Just don't use government as the position to sue can already. Not saying anything goes.. people have right to protect themselves from accusations. but there has to be better ways to handle. We don't see obama go sueing people who think he is kenyan... actually he is Korean.
