I thought tech was supposed to make things easier and faster not more complicated and slow

use tech and robotics is more to replace the human.. not necessarily will be faster..

This thread is informative.

For old school guy like myself, who hasn't been keeping updated about current affairs, it's very useful to learn that there are such business going on now.

Whether it lasts or not, is another matter. But it's sure innovative.

yeah it's good to keep abreast of what is happening. So u don't appear suaku  [laugh]

I still do my grocery shopping the old school way, unless it's rice, PET bottles then I maybe interested in online grocery discount.

NTUC checkout counter, i find the counters too small, bigger shelf/packing area would be very helpful.

from company point of view,

i don't have to plan shift duty, various religion holidays, last min MCs and urgent leave, people suddenly quitting, employees throwing temper or complaining to MOM, less human error, etc

the only thing missing will be a human touch

haha but i like to walk into supermarket and decide what i want to cook/buy there.

But if lugging things like drinks etc, then no fun.

Looking at the videos alone, I find the process became longer and more complicated.

Surely have to wait for some people to figure out where to scan, how to use, etc. Then have to wait for robot to pack......

Can't they just use the normal cashier style, ...just pay, pack and go?

Innovation should cut down processes, not adding into them. Innovation should save time, not add more time.

Seems like have to wait to push trolley into machine, then wait for robot to pack before can collect.

Is there an express checkout? If I just buy a packet of prawn crackers, I don't need a trolley to push into the machine and wait for robot to pack

Bro..we can talk about lifestyle only if the labour law here change the max working hours per week from 44 to 35 like in Europe.

Otherwise, rushing is part of the rat race here.

Anyway, even if I got time, I wouldn't want to chill at Boot Leat Terrace.  It is all old warehouses there.

From what I know about how US/Europe working style.....they may be spending that time in the the office but they have own internal speed/load limit on how fast they process stuff in the inbox/in tray. The working hours looks nice on paper but efficiency is in the gutter. :D

it's not about kankor..... it's about moving with tech..

already a norm in china... and the good thing is no cash involved... so less dispute, less fake currency and less robbery....

Agreed and disagreed.

Safe for not carrying cash.

But this latest honest bee their minimum top up into their app is $10. I need to get at least 2 packs of salted egg potato chip to come anywhere near $10.

Always choose cash mode as payment.
