ST editors alleged affair with intern

Lets look at a few things before we jump into a conclusion.

 

Action was taken against the 2 guys for "breached of SPH code of conduct", in which  “supervisors using their positions to get into relationships,” no mention that the affair was force upon by the 2 men. 

 

Could she had tried to get an easier internship or a better report by getting into a relationship with her supervisors? No mention of how many interns where allocated at that point of time, was she the only intern?  There is also no mention if she was the first intern with SPH? If she is not the first intern and not the only one allocated at that point of time, why is it that only she gets into an affair with 2 men in the same company at the same time? 

 

If the 2 men had abused their power, this would unlikely be the only case, agree? 

 

Now it was reported that she "purportedly attempted suicide" ,  so did she committed suicide but did not die or did she attempted suicide? 

 

I jump down but did not die is committed suicide but did not die. I stand there wanting to jump and shouting "dont come nearer or I will jump" is attempt suicide. I would want to believe that there is a different. 

 

Dont get me wrong, I am not jumping to conclusion yet, but it is just plain foolish to assume that older, more superior man are always the cause, and younger girls are always the victim. 

 

You need to go out and communicate with girls in the 18-19 yrs old to the early 20s, and see for yourself how the world has changed.

SP, SGH car park, Changi Village car park, Labrador Park car park, East Coast car park, National stadium car park, Jalan Benaan Kapal, Jurong Hill car  park, West Coast car park, ..... etc.  :a-panic:

 

So many places to go and if every weekends goes to one, can cover 2 years before returning to the first place again ...   :we-all-gonna-die:

Yeah, agree. If the 2 guys really used their position (pun intended) then it would amount to sexual harassment and they would be sacked and maybe even police called in. This is clearly not the case - just a breach of "code of conduct" from an internal COI which could be simply that they brought disrepute to SPH by their actions and the intern's subsequent actions upon being found out and SPH just want to save face by hanging them out to dry. And the fact that there are 2 guys at the same time *shake head*

No need to think so much. She was hospitalised after suicide attempt which is prolly how became a COI.

 

ST protecting her identity and no mention that she is punished in any way eg lost her scholarship... suggests they view her as victim since scholarship must maintain good behaviour. Any more reading into this is speculation

 

 

oh so your idea of an exchange is "no need to think so much"? 

 

Do you know that attempt suicide will also be directed to hospital and put under observation before statement is taken?  That is consider hospitalized in case he think that hospitalized means  something very life threatening. 

 

ST had to keep her identity closed because she is an intern, not because they view her as a victim. Take note that the word "victim" did not appear anywhere. 

 

As an intern, SPH only writes her report, and has no right over her to punish her, as to her scholarship it will be up to her school to decide. 

 

Lets get things clear before we move into other discussion. 

 

Any more reading into this is speculation? Any different from speculating base on a pc of news and jump to a conclusion?
