Simi social mission.. aiyo see Liao make my hair stand and goosebumps raise up.

Fluff and fluff everywhere.

But Foodfare's big curry pok is nice. Haven eaten it for years. In 2001 it was going for $1.20 a piece.

Sian, good food one by one gone.

Hope they don't increase the prices.

Kopitiam where got good food?

Most are no longer run by local.

Only Dessert is still decent.

I find food republic food quality is slightly better but more expensive.

Usually when they say fairer price or with social enterprise mission, it will be the supplier or this instance, stall holders be squeezed.

Consumer will definitely have loss leader item to choose.

the story just gets repeated over and over again

7-11 good business model .... red eye .... http://www.cheers.com.sg/web/store_location.jsp

Casket business good and established ....... red eye .......https://casketfairprice.com/packages/

cold storage .......red eye ........ https://www.fairprice.com.sg/wps/portal/fp/ourretailformats

etc

nearly every sector is cornered by semi-government establishment but their prices are not competitive even they claim Fairprice

exactly how does an entrepreneur competes with such deep pockets organization

the business sector is doom

don't forget Unity also

My opinion is that ntuc foodfare food is usually nicer than kopitiam for generic chain stalls.

The basic mixed rice usually is nicer in NTUC foodfare though. Rice garden vs Chang cheng (usually in most kopitiams).

I still drive to the neighbourhood estate's NTUC foodfare to buy mixed rice (when i want to eat). And I've eaten it in random stalls in tampines and pasir ris. Definitely better than chang cheng haha.

The chicken rice in NTUC foodfare coffeeshops also slightly above average.

There was a NTUC foodfare food court near my workplace for 3 years which closed down.

And a kopitiam nearby which i eat from at least 3-4 times a week.

Hypermart model doesn't work well in SG already.

Shop ecommerce at home with phone or laptop beats joining the queue at cashier, queue at carpark, congested traffic on roads. Worse for those who don't have cars. Online retailers deliver right to confirm of home.

So most Hypermart sales affected by this shift.

Now that's why Jack Ma, Jeff Bezo and Eduardo Saverin pump $$$$ into SG

Fulfilment centres, 3PL and ecommerce retailers.

With more automation, autonomous drones, delivery gaps can be addressed in future. The whole system likely can be replicated to cities similar to SG.

You mean another NTUC? ð¢

Highly likely.

No other player will dare to take this.

dont worry, the simi anti trade will step in to stop the buy over.

Wayang is a must nowadays.

I was just about to say that. Isn't it similar to Grab buying over Uber? Just wait and see if they perform any wayang or not!

Imho, it is very unhealthy for this "big fish eat small fish world". They don't benefit consumers, just make the rich richer!

Don't think they will want such a large floor size.

They have not Hypermart experience.

If not properly run & lose money, will affect investor confidence.

Many large supplier companies also have merger and acquisition. Get immediate access of new distribution and route to market.

Consolidation is always happening.

Eat value meal at fast food cheaper. With $5, get a meal with drinks. In the food court, $5 gets you the basic cheaper noodles without drinks.
