On one side, one MP talk about fashionable not to drive, tio kan until need to run road.

Here we have a thread in support of car owners asking to remove the bus lane, Tio kan until go into hiding..

confusing and confusion man!!! [:p][laugh][laugh]

The fellow must be asking himself, " this is a car forum right? what did i do wrong? why me? why???".... [laugh]

Here is my thought.

The MP is speaking nonsense, if he will to say intermix of using private car and public transport, i am sure he would get more support.

Bus lane wise, many of us though are drivers ourselves, we do take bus from time to time, or our family members also take bus, so we know the challenge of not having bus lane, it is why most of us here are supportive of bus lane. This shows that we are not selfish and are sensible.

But i do think LTA should look into improving bus lane marking, and also not to get banga to paint bus lane everywhere anyhow as if they have excessive free paint.

Public buses are scheduled to run whole day with very little dwell time. If buses are delayed during the morning peak hours, the delay will result in the entire day schedule messed up. Bunching will occur, as the front bus to first hit the jam will meet the rear bus.

During peak hours, everyone will take longer to get to their destination. I see no logic why 1 group of road users shd sacrifice for another. High capacity vehicles will surely hv higher priority and value add than individual cars. Live and let live

totally agreed.

so irony many here wanted a cheaper car and yet cant tolerate bus lane.

infact i suggest make the bus lane 7/24. stiffer penalty. make taking public transport a breeze for commuting in singapore.

do away with bus lane might one day resulting in your the other half/sibling etc urging you for a lift. Tell me that wont jam up the road even more.

if really wanting a smooth leisure ride than proceed up to the north.

imo. dont flame.ð

lastly..when driving pass bus bay please slow down especially when rain. spare a thought for those waiting inside the bus stop. i just witnessed one idiot doing that just now.

Err....

I beg to differ.

Up north not good to drive now.

Many self entitled drivers as well.

Many J and W plates also follow the S plate to hog the right lane now.

Likely because of implementation of demerits points for MY drivers. So many also kept to 110kmph at lane 1.

Not for complete ban but some areas do need to be removed or altered. Eg. the part outside ICA along Kallang Rd, vehicles held up traffic for the chance to turn into the carpark.

If the Red bus lanes are removed (let it be just yellow lines instead), vehicles turning into ICA can just wait behind buses for their turn to go into the carpark, rather than having to cut abruptly in within a very short distance allowance.

Above is just an example that comes to mind. I'm sure readers can contribute more scenarios.

I rather they switch the entrance with the exit, then can resolve the long queue into the carpark.

Or both can enter and exit.

Bus lanes should be abolished from 5pm to 8pm.

Reasons

1) It jammed up the other lanes as we are forced to drive with one fewer lane.

2) The bus lanes are under utilized by buses anyway. Or at least allow some other vehicles like vans carrying goods or trucks to drive on bus lanes.

3) Due to different work nature and conditions now, there are people who finish work at 1pm to 4pm. There are also many people who ends work late: 8pm to midnight so bus lanes from 5pm to 8pm is kind of redundant now.

Try to drive on expressway more, there are no bus lanes there.

If you are driving on minor roads that meant the distance you are travelling must be short.

So shouldn't be much fuss since it's a short trip.

I love bus lane

I wont say i love bus lane but it is a necessary implementation to cut down bus journey time significantly. In my view they should improve some bus lane area/marking that are too close to left turn, also some very congested roads but the bus lane are very under utilised. They should implement a different policies around those area like bus priority rather than blocking out the lane completely

There's this stretch along Queensway directly opposite Queensway Shopping Centre in the direction of Redhill. The bus lane there goes on for about 200m, breaks for about 50m, then becomes a bus lane again (right in front of Shell station) for about like 10m, like really what is happening LTA?? Either continue or remove that 10m stretch otherwise it's really confusing for drivers. Some bus lanes can definitely be improved.
