Truck beat traffic light, no amount of controlled junction can help its cause...

Best to give the driver a fine + suspension where it hurt most..

Red light camera will at least deter these drivers to beat red light.

What do they do to the drivers who are caught doing this (chiong red light driving lorries) anyway?

Apart from free stay at Chalet Changi, if they plan to re-educate these hopeless drivers, i have a suggestion.

Remember during live firing at electronic range, when there could be figure 11 poping up from the ground? We need some props like that. Make something like that at a traffic junction, hidden under ground initially.

Then paste life-size photos of the errant drivers' loved ones (wife, kids, parents...) on the figure 11s.

Then get the drivers to drive over the junction a few times. On the occasion when it's amber/red and they didn't stop, just prop up the figs. 11 with photos of their loved ones on them... See how they will react...

I think just anybody face will make their balls shrink already once they knocked down the "people".

Can incorporate into driving lessons.

1 injured after trailer truck rams car at Pioneer Road junction

gmtrailer10425.jpg

SINGAPORE - One person was injured after a trailer truck rammed a car at a traffic junction in Jurong West on Wednesday morning (April 25).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at 9.15am to an accident at the junction of Jalan Buroh and Pioneer Road.

One person was conscious when taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, SCDF added.

In a video uploaded by road safety Facebook page Roads.sg, the trailer truck was seen apparently running a red light at the junction.

It narrowly missed some motorcyclists before crashing into the car.

The Straits Times has contacted the police for more information.

maybe truck driver wasn't looking at that traffic light, he was looking at the next one.

or maybe his eyes were blurry.

I suspect some of these drivers might be quite bochup about other people's lives, so will need to shock them a bit and set them thinking what will happen if it was their loved ones who helplessly face being knocked down...

Hope such shock therapy will make them suddenly wake up and never ever chiong red light again...

Well done to our SAF medics!

SINGAPORE - A group of army medics, along with medic trainees, stopped to help four students and a driver after the school van they were in crashed into a lamp post in Mandai.

The accident occurred at around 6.40am in Mandai Avenue on Wednesday (April 25), the Singapore Army said in a Facebook post.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told The Straits Times that it responded to the road traffic accident and took three casualties in a conscious state to KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH). Another two casualties were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

According to the army's Facebook post, servicemen from the Combat Medic Specialist Course of the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF') Medical Training Institute (SMTI) were on their way to an outfield exercise when they came across the scene of the accident.

ME3 Ng Jaan Woei, officer commanding and emergency medical technician specialist at SMTI, halted the convoy of SAF vehicles after seeing the van driver, along with four crying children, at the side of the road.

He helped a boy who had a bad cut on his forehead and cuts on his legs, due to the shattered glass from the school van.

From photos of the accident, it appears that the van had crashed into a lamp post.

aiyo, it is so easy to implement. but i think the key reasons for delaying is business / economy. time is money and they need to ensure everyone gets to work fast.

Change also no use if those drivers out there still wants to drive recklessly, dangerously and without due care & consideration for other road users.....  :yuush:

It's his/her own attitude towards other road users that's matters and keeping the road safe.   :we-all-gonna-die:

Nothing wrong with vehicles, nothing wrong with traffic lights and nothing wrong with lanes markings. :ignoring:

It's the one behind the wheels. :ninja:

Problem is how to know who are the errant drivers? Until the accident happens then would know.

Those who were jailed probably knows their lessons.

true that accident will continue to happen

but abolish the "discretionary turning on green" will reduce the rate of accident!

that's the whole point!

Like the hand clapping...it takes two to achieve a resounding outcome.

LTA and TP can definitely do better to help bring down the statistics...while all road users - pedestrians included - need to be educated or reminded of the important part we all have to play for a safe journey.

We have seen enough of the ill effect of mobile devices on all front...It’s time for deep reflection and act accordingly.

Safe and peaceful journeys to all.
