Carbon82 Moderator June 28, 2016 Share June 28, 2016 (edited) Bro Mustank, specially for you. Since it is from MB, sure got Diesel option. Daimler's Mercedes-Benz arm continues the development work of their first mid-sized pickup truck and our spies were there to catch them in the act. Just like the Renault Alaskan, Mercedes’ new pickup truck is based on the underpinnings of Nissan’s NP300 Navara and will reportedly enter the market under the GLT moniker, starting from 2017. The car you see in the photos is a test mule still carrying a lot of the Nissan’s body panels but we can clearly notice the wider front and rear wheel arches. Unlike other re-badged examples we’ve seen, the GLT is being developed and designed solely from Daimler to meet the specific needs of its customer base in Europe, Australia, South Africa and Latin America. The company gave us a good idea of how the final car will look like by releasing a teaser sketch image last year, along with the promise of high levels of utility combined with “the comfort, safety, and design of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car”. Mercedes still considers offering their new pickup in the US and if they do, the GLT will probably be made at Nissan’s factory in Mexico to avoid tarrifs. The company is also going to build it in Renault’s Argentinian facilities and at the Nissan plant in Spain for the regional markets respectively. Expect a range of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with entry-level models getting a six-speed manual and the rest a seven-speed automatic gearbox, with power sent to all four wheels permanently. rickosw 3rd Gear July 3, 2016 Share July 3, 2016 Here are how the distance cousin of GLT look like. yeah, there is a tie-up with MB with Nissan / Infiinty, esp the lower end of the price range models will be cross-sharing, using exact same part, engine, gearbox, etc ... just basically a badge make over so if you more exclusive models, need to look further up the food chain ... (aka ATAS models)

Not sure - but don't think so you can - and also has to be Company registered, but maybe if can then you have to pay very high taxes like normal car and the price will kill you and I dont know if can drive above 70kmph speed some more. Right now the COE prices for goods vehicles is kinda high too

7hm Turbocharged November 7, 2016 Share November 7, 2016 There is no better machine than the super luxurious Navara for basing a luxury truck on, if you ask me. I think the Renault Alaskan is prettier though, lol. I find the name "GLT" interesting though... but it's probably T for truck... lol
Ct3833 Supersonic November 7, 2016 Share November 7, 2016 pickup cannot be register as private car ..right ? I believe you could, but subject to similar ARF as passenger car. oukyumi 1st Gear November 7, 2016 Share November 7, 2016 A pair of concept versions of the first-ever Mercedes-Benz ute – known as the Mercedes-Benz Concept X-Class – has been revealed. That’s right: the new Mercedes-Benz pick-up will be known as the X-Class, the brand has confirmed. The company claims that the new model will be the “first premium pick-up”, with two versions seen here, both five-seat dual-cab models, being the lifestyle-focused “Stylish Explorer” in white and the more rugged looking “Powerful Adventurer” in Lemonax Metallic. The all-new Mercedes-Benz X-Class is said to be part of a product range expansion as part of a drive for sustainable global growth, and you see two versions of the Concept X-Class as a result – and while both concepts offer up glimpses as to what to expect from the new X-Class production model, each is pretty outlandish in its show car execution.Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars and chairman of the board for Daimler AG, Dr Dieter Zetsche, said the new pick-up is an important model for the company’s continued growth and expansion.“With the Mercedes-Benz pick-up, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio. Our target: we want to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment,” Zetsche said. The head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Volker Mornhinweg, said the ute will be the “first true premium pick-up for the modern urban lifestyle”.“Our future X-Class will be a pick-up that knows no compromise. Ladder-type frame, high-torque six-cylinder engine, and permanent all-wheel drive are compulsory for us. As an added value we bring safety, comfort, agility, and expressive design – in other words, everything that distinguishes vehicles bearing the Mercedes star. We will thus appeal to new customers who have not considered owning a pickup before.”The heavily stylised Concept X-Class show cars are said to double as a family vehicle and an urban lifestyle model, with the one-tonne ute claimed by Mercedes-Benz to be “tough, functional, strong, and with off-road capability”.The lifestyle concept probably won’t be going too far off-road, as it’s shod with 22-inch light alloy wheels in an anthracite finish that offer it a “towering and superior stance”.The second concept model is said to focus on the classic traits of a pick-up (like a regular pair of tail-lights – but we’re not so sure about that mesh tailgate!), and apparently that includes huge tyres (11.5-inch span width, 35-inch diameter) and a 1.90-metre tall stance, while flared arches and a wide track enhance its chunky proportions. The front-end sees the adoption of the brand’s two-louvre grille, familiar from the Benz SUV range (note the white ute has a single-bar grille), while it also gets underbody protection and matte carbon wheel arch extensions to “underscore the superior off-road aesthetics”. There’s an electric winch up front and a tow hook at the rear, too.But while it is a beefy looking customer, the lines that span the length of the body – from the short front overhang to the tray at the rear – are said to “amplify the focus on driving dynamics”.At the rear there’s a chrome trim line and an LED strip that is said to “point to the unique character of the future pick-up”. Intriguing. As we already know, the new X-Class ute will be based on the same underpinnings as the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan, as part of a joint-venture between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler. The ute will compete against the Navara and the Alaskan (if it comes to Australia), not to mention the big names in the ute segment – the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Holden Colorado, Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, and its German arch-nemesis, the Volkswagen Amarok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StcLbdqH-WY

Right now the COE prices for goods vehicles is kinda high too No issues. Register like normal car means pay Cat A/B COE plus other applicable taxes. 70km/h speed limit is removed. With a cabin like that, who will buy? If the boss buy, his workers are going to dirty the whole pickup. Better to get those normal pickups with hard plastic interior
