peak hour should have better rate than no peak? is 30 per hour the average ? not sure what would be the net take home, but $30 per hour seems not bad basing on 6 days week of 8 hours each.  I could be wrong as i have never giver  this trade a deeper thoughts about it.

I believe $30 is average collection per hour of driving, and its gross collection before deducting cost.

On a good day, there is no problem with 30 per hour.

But surely on weekdays, you don't really get 30 per hour all the time, in some hours, there can be hardly any passenger and time and petrol are wasted on the road.

During peak hour, rainy weather, or if there are accidents on the road, traffic can be bad, if grab driver pick up a passenger, say 40-45 minutes to reach destination, and to Jurong or town area, most likely unable to pick up any passenger there again and have to move out, and no 30 per hour.  It all depends on luck at times.

That was obviously unsustainable. PHV drivers also knew that.

Are there many street hail riders these days? I can't remember the last time I hailed a taxi on the street.

Usually only take taxi if I do OT so I'd book the car before heading downstairs.

i guess it was a hit and run type... good for those who had jobs and took on PHV as part time

but those who were full time PHV (worse, if quit their jobs to be PHV drivers), then they would experience the good times then and the not so good times now

Don't really know how many GRAB driver still driving , many have quitted or doing secondary job that comes along the way, Nobody asked them to stop driving full time or OTOT, the obvious reason is C-19 pandemic command highest order to stop all traffic and business flow. You name it , everybody was affected . . . .

We will only see daylight when Aviation, Tourism, Transportation, Supply chain company and related trade to these field back to normalcy. . . . The last to be back on it feets are those thousand of F&B business making a slow slow recovery, with or w/o G support, I can only show empathy, Taxidriver, Grab, Gojek, Rhyde will make or break the nutshell, simply thy have other support and sponsorship to lean on, very most, thy will stop awhile and take stock and fight another days -30-90 days perhaps

G can only do so much and there is a learning lesson to learn from the current C-19 catastrophe , the world came to a complete standstill, death, sickness, healing and recovery, we are still fighting for everybody, we may not be " Sovereign " one however I believe if each and everyone can do one part to stay alive and do the necessary SOP daily- Stay Strong believing the doctors, nurses, healthcare staff, ambulance drivers, Hospital and medical cleaners, waste collectors, HDB's cleaners etc, thy are the one doing all the dirty work in the majority of our Nation densely populated citizens.

Grab can wait & so can Heaven. [flowerface]

Heard even Taxi Drivers who want to join Grab need to pay few hundreds (using skill future credits) for 3 days course. So most taxi drivers going for gojek as gojek doesn't have this requirement.
