StingerGT 5th Gear September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 Accidentally switched off my auto headlamps the other day. Forgot all about it, was in a rush and drove off in the dark. After about 30secs of driving this message popped up. 20180915_133400-picsay.jpg I think if every car with auto headlamps have this feature of of reminding drivers to switch on their headlamps in the dark, it will cut down the numbers of drivers driving around without lighting on. Bro this feature not everyone have, not even for those with auto headlights. Maybe is entry level conti and above have? My B9 A4 had it.. after car wash always prompt me, heng. ↡ Advertisement
Vratenza Supersonic September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 Base on my limited technical knowledge. To have this function, the pre-requisite physical components are already there in all cars with auto headlights. You just need a light sensor (that all auto headlights should have) that detects the ambient light level. It's just the ECU to interpret the light level signals when it detects that the light level is low, your car is moving, your headlights are not switched on and Flash the warning on the cluster panel next to your speedo. I think for those cars that don't have this function, the engineers did not think through the car use ergonomics and algorithms thoroughly enough. I would think that a little programming is all that is required. Bro this feature not everyone have, not even for those with auto headlights. Maybe is entry level conti and above have? Fitvip Supersonic September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 Exactly my same thought. My encounter with those who forgot to on their headlights are mostly dark coloured cars as well.Quite true. They look like stealth models

Why system just reminds? Should just overwrite and turn on the headlights automatically for those kuku drivers who insist on saving battery/stealth...... (not referring to you of course! ) It will be good to have auto headlights turn on during heavy rain.Or get auto wiper to link to with auto headlights and tail lights. Just drove back from KL. Encounter heavy rain and some drivers just don't on head lights. It also happen in SG too. But SG traffics slow to 60kmph, Malaysia avg speed still about 90kmph. Vratenza Supersonic September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 I guess the problem is with the law like how autonomous driving system are mandated to have the driver put his hands on the steering wheel at all times or else the system will warn the driver and eventually slow to a stop if no driver input is detected. But truth is, I am just hazarding a guess.... Maybe someone can throw the light switch on this one. Why system just reminds? Vratenza Supersonic September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 That reminds me on my pet peeve..... Indiscriminate use of hazard lights. Best illustration was last week when it was raining quite heavily, the A3 sedan in front of me suddenly put on the hazard lights while driving along lane 1 of MCE towards Aye once out of the tunnel. That was confusing as I had no idea what he was trying to do for a good 2-3 min as I was half expecting him to slow to a stop because of some engine problem or what. But after a while, I realised that he was one of those act smart ones who think they are doing the rest of mankind a great service for doing what they did. He slowed down to almost 60kph on lane 1 on MCE. Needless to say, hogging the road. When I decided I had enough, I undertook him from the left, left a big gap before cutting back in, he had the galls to high beam me. Idiot. Cannot handle the wet, keep to the left lane. Maybe new car owner of a premium marque, need to do "march past" for everyone review. Put hazard lights and drive slowly. Hahaha this type of driver can flick headlights but cannot flick signal and move to lane 2. Ego bigger than brain. Only in Malaysia In very heavy condition, I will on the tail fog light to prevent being rear ended by cars travelling at least 120kmph. Here is very safe. Because majority will go to low speed like 60 or 70 at lane one even the rain has reduced to slight drizzle.

Atonchia Supersonic September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 Are you saying Singapore driver got smaller ball as compared to Malaysia driver? ð¤£ð¤£ No no...Don't be mistaken It's only because Malaysia has straighter roads. All drivers have balls, some on the seat, some spilt by seat belt.
S2s1 3rd Gear September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 What about those cock-a-nat-han drivers who drive with their high beam on? They are seriously another irritating bunch. Many people may think that these tend to be our female counterparts, but I have saw a fair share of male doing that. These ppl should be removed from the road. Driving around with high beam in Singapore context where our roads are generally well lit.. is just irresponsible. I prefer police fine those high beam than those forget to switch on headlamps. Very irritating especially nowadays most are LED.
