Bluepica 4th Gear August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 Darn! my less than a year old Kia hit by stone again on NSH. There's a small star crack at the center bottom of the windscreen. Should I repair it or just send to Kia to file for claim to change it? ↡ Advertisement

pegasi 4th Gear August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 some insurer include free repair in the policy, but the crack must be severe enough, eg must have crack lines (usually less than 0.5cm) if crack line promulgate , may need to replace whole windscreen, usually excess is $100 if only chip off no crack line, cant claim free repair from insurer, have to ownself pay to get it done
Mcf777 Turbocharged August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 Since it is a small crack, just mend it back. i think S$50 or S$80 (forgoten liao, 2-3yrs ago). I done it thru Dr Glass. Changing whole windscreen a bit troublesome. need to re-do sun-shade and solar film.

Hamburger Hypersonic August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 I would mend it as it's relatively small. I prefer to keep the original windscreen if possible.

Kb27 Supersonic August 15, 2018 Share August 15, 2018 Will not cause the integrity Of the windscreen? Like Jena one more stone then totally smashed or even strong or heavy rain The crack line will grow over time. Last time I went to glass-fix at Ubi. They can advise you if you can claim from insurance (replaced with new) or repair. I did a patch, and 2 yrs later, lines start appearing. By that time, have to change windscreen. So if you're covered by insurance, just replaced it.

DACH Supersonic August 15, 2018 Share August 15, 2018 Go to Dr Glass. Seek for his advice. If can repair, let him repair. Try not to change the factory fitted windscreen if possible. Some workshops may not do a good job with the sealant and may cause water leakage overtime.

I just ignore them, all is good till i sold the car couple of years later. Just sharing my experience. ↡ Advertisement
