To be fair, no vehicles shld be stopping inside the cycling lane by law. They shld on hazard lights and stop within the 3rd lane, just to the right of the cycling lane. Cyclist should also be paying close attention to the road ahead, it doesn't pay to be complacent just because it's a cycling lane.

I checked TP basic theory book. Never say cannot stop in bicycle lane. But I am sure blind cyclists not allowed.

anyway the cyclist did the right thing to cycle in the cycling lane.. he did not inconvenience anyone.. how he get into the accident i oso puzzle.. his is road bike (with brake).. and need not be in aggressive position unlike riding a TT bike..

I guess that's because the rules above didn't include anything related to the specially gazetted cycling lane along Tanah Merah Coastal road. Refer to the below, "No parking in the cycling lane" for vehicles.

Common sense would also mean that means no waiting in the cycling lane as well.

You can stop in the event of a breakdown, in the 3rd lane, not all the way left inside the cycling lane.

Bicycle not build with crumple zone. So yeh, take care and ride safe.

To enhance safety for cyclists and pedestrians, should mandate front and back crumple zones for bicycles. Here's a good example of back crumple zone...apply same concept to the front but not block view of cyclist.

And must have big license plate front and back also.
