more so now that Shairi added an egg to their faces with that spectacular goal against his team..

losing 4-1 to pool is embarrassing to Utd.. the manner this was completed was just too much for him it seems

Frankly what are those two whining about?

Nothing intelligent ever comes out of two idiots' mouth.

They managed Valencia and were sacked after a few month.

Even professional players have no confidence in what they say.

We need to thanks them. The boy have a point to prove, this can be clearly seen from the way he play.

On the first day of training he requested a double session instead of the usual one.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described Xherdan Shaqiri’s debut performance in the 4-1 thrashing of Manchester United as abnormal.

The £13m summer signing scored a glorious bicycle kick and provided an assist for Daniel Sturridge despite joining up with his new team-mates only four days earlier.

Shaqiri came on as a second-half substitute and Klopp was mightily impressed with how quickly he adapted to Liverpool’s style of play.

He said: “That’s not normal after four days in the club – adapting that well to the style of play.

“It was better than I would have expected, to be honest. I think today it was a game where it was quite easy to come in for pretty much all of them because we played over 90 minutes of really good football on a very difficult pitch for both teams.

“For Shaq, in the moment he signed he wanted to stay immediately at Liverpool and train with us. I think it was a week after he finished the World Cup, so I said: ‘No, no, no. Go!’

“He came back a few days ago and he was really excited. For him it was a very good moment in his career, having already had a real experience at Bayern, at Stoke, at Inter.

This is lazy and unprofessional?

Fair comment. But sometimes as a sportsman, it is really hugely frustrating when your teammates don't measure up. After a while one might think "what's the point?" Instead if pushing them up, might even get pulled down. Before that he still had Arnautovic to play with..... Put Messi in Stoke he'll also play like shit sooner or later. Hahaha

To be fair, all along I've also questioned Shaqiri on this mental attitude. Cos he's been consistently linked with top clubs over the years but ended up in Stoke? But at 13M,i say its a qualified risk that Klopp is 100% right to take.

Yup, confirm agree with your 2nd para... but let's not forget Balo whom was also deemed a low-risk buy - which means nothing is confirmed... [sweatdrop]

But at least Shaqiri seems to be a better fit for Klopp's system than Balo, so should be better [laugh]

It's actually strange how stoke performed last season. Something was not right. Yes, Arnautovic left, but they had some decent players in the team still, but results sucked...

Reminded me of West Ham many moons ago when the team had good players who are went on to become stars, but couldn't get the results when playing together - when they had Ferdinald, Lampard, Cole, Carrick, Di Canio, etc...

Shaqiri likely to be a squad player at Pool n with his skills, he can make difference coming off the bench so he is def worth a try at 13mil. Don’t forget he was nicknamed Messi of the Alps at his peak!

So now Pool got 2 Messis.... Hahaha

how about our defensive heachache? Any new player coming? Did not follow the transfer news lately.

Klopp says no need, cos we got Gomez!

But then he ended with a "maybe yes, maybe not" reply...

The thing about Shaqiri is that he did not sign thinking that he will be squad player. He is typically egoistic in nature and he will put up a strong challenge to the front 3 or make it into the squad as an AM.

As long as he does it without being too abrasive and confrontational, such challenges should be welcomed in a squad that is competing on numerous fronts. It keeps them on their toes and in the event they are off-form or Klopp requires a different tactical approach, the optionalities will present themselves..

Same thing for Sturridge... frozen out last season and he has now returned to show that his game is not about his individual brilliance but how he can contribute to the team..   this will only increase his workrate and teamwork..  the very ingredients which Klopp will accept from anyone wanting to break the current front 3.

Last season, besides the front 3, Pool only has Ox, Solanke and Ings. This season, there will be additional challenges from Sturridge and Shaqiri.  Definitely stronger bench at the very least.

must trust in Klopp to work his magic...

i think Shaqiri and DS do know that they are currently not 1st choice, so they have to fight for their places. Klopp has to work his magic to keep them happy and give them minutes... overall these 2 are still an upgrade over Solanke and Ings... remember what happened during UCL final when Salah got injured...
