Knighthunter 4th Gear June 15, 2021 Share June 15, 2021 If there is facility for charging available at home/office then get European PHEV cars, this car is very efficient when charged often. No charging petrol consumption running at hybrid mode hard to go beyond 10-12 km/l If no charging point then is better to get Japanese hybrid cars. it’s 2 very different concepts, Volvo is the best described their PHEV T8 twin engine last time, technically the car indeed has 2 engine that really could run independently. While like Lexus hybrid is combination of very efficient engine that has draw back lack of torque compensated with electric motors running in tandem. ↡ Advertisement
Mooose 6th Gear June 16, 2021 Share June 16, 2021 3 hours ago, Jtsjv said: No issue. Just that you wouldnt be maximising the full potential of the battery. Without plugging in, there is the option to drive like a normal hybrid (where ur battery charge usually never exceeds 10%, and usually regenerated fr braking), or u can click the charge button to deliberately charge it back to up to 80% charge level. This consumes more petrol, but its useful if u do this on highway drives where engine use is more efficient, and utilise the electric drives in start stop traffic. For the s60 t8, shld be able to achieve 13km/l this way. But if you charge regularly (everyday at least once) like me, no issues getting between 50-160km/l. Energy (petrol + electricity) costs shld be about 70+% lower than an almost equivalent ICE volvo (eg s90 t6). 3 hours ago, Jtsjv said: If you look at drag race videos online, the Volvo T8 reaches about 160+ km/h in about 12-13s. Based on the charge in the battery (even if its quite empty), it shld be able to last this duration. the car’s computer will automatically find opportunities to charge back the battery either thru regenerative braking or engine. to note, the t8’s rear electric motor is de-coupled at speeds beyond 160kph, to avoid overheating. So it’s effectively only 315bhp cars at those speeds. 3 hours ago, Jtsjv said: I dont think it requires so long a distance . I recall 80-100+km of smooth cruising (with charging mode on) shld be able to get it to approx 80% or 32km electric range. This is based on my t8 driving experiences overseas on the s90 and xc90, where i had little opportunity to plug in and charge. but the key qn is do we need to deliberately get 32km of electric range if the distance fr exit of highway to the re-entry of the highway is less than 32km. my experience in sg when battery charge is pretty low, i could gain about 6km of electric range from approx 10km of drive. It will of course get ‘more difficult’ as the battery charge gets fuller. thank you very much for taking the time to answer and share this information .. learned much 😊 much appreciated! I think it will depend on car to car and how big is the battery of the PHEV. I had a week of driving the bmw 225XE PHEV in singapore. It has a small battery that can power the car in pure electric mode for around 35KM and up to 80km/hr on the expressway (my usage pattern). When i run on pure petrol, the car can add 35% to the battery easily when i'm on the expressway for around 28km.
firefly20 3rd Gear June 24, 2021 Share June 24, 2021 Did my first servicing recently and got the s/w upgraded to 2.0. Since then, it has been 100% success rate (6/6) opening the boot with my Messi kicking action. Almost too good to be true. 😂

Last I asked, S60 B4 (mild hybrid) is due sometime Sept this year. That is why no longer selling after they cleared existing stock.
tansn76 Neutral Newbie August 2, 2021 Share August 2, 2021 I went to showroom 2 weeks go made enquiry for V60CC, the sales agent appointed is not eager at all. I need to keep whatsapp him for the information. By the way, any bro can share what is the usual overtrade, discount, free gift package from Volvo? Thank you very much. For most part I think it looks similar to a T4 RD. The gear lever seems to be an electronic shifter in the new B4. http://www.welovevolvo.org/volvo-sport/2021-volvo-s60-b4-197-ps-test-drive/ Edited August 3, 2021 by jammer_sg
Samuel536 Neutral Newbie October 25, 2021 Share October 25, 2021 Hi, any advise for a used v60 T5, with or without CC. Prolly still 5 years left this kinda age. Really like the looks and currently on a 1.8 civic with COE due soon. Is there any common transmission problem for this model, cos I can't find much details for v60 discussion. Volvobrick Supersonic October 25, 2021 Share October 25, 2021 New MODEL V60 looks nice to me. The 8 speed auto transmission is by Asin. Should be reliable.
Samuel536 Neutral Newbie October 25, 2021 Share October 25, 2021 @Volvobrick Judging from your nick, you must be an ardent fan of Volvo. I read up some parts were shared with Ford and seems to have reliability issue. Should I take note of any for this particular model?

Those with the older 2.0T 4 cylinder engine, coupled with twin clutch 6 speed are from Ford shared bins. They are quite old probably not what you are eyeing.
