I think we’re driving similar 2020 SPA S60. Been using 95 since day 1 and 98 once every 6 months. No issue for normal everyday driving. Manual says the very least is 95.

RON98 is recommended for LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION.

I tried it once or twice didn't really see significant fuel consumption difference.

Also at that price difference is the lower fuel consumption still more economical?

I'm not disputing just wondering out loud.

I mean the price difference between 95 and 98 is about 20%? Is the fuel consumption more than 20% lower?

And therefore the price per km between 95 and 98

I have also done 2 tanks of 98 for comparison. Don’t see any significant difference (if any at all) to justify the extra premium to pay for 98 fuel. 
 

Pickup habits from stop, proportion of city/expressway driving are the main contributing factors.

Totally agree with you on this. 

As for better power, I'm not too sure also but using 95 I can still feel enough power for day to day driving. 

So as such I do see why I should be paying about 20% more to use 98

My current fuel consumption is 9.9l per 100km on Shell RON 98. 

Let me see if there's any major diff with RON 95 for my next tank.

Oh you go for RON 98 once in a while. I used to pump V-Power once in a while when Shell had some kind of promo. But lately they do not.

AKI 91 = RON 95 (RON is used in SG). Please follow the manual and don't go below 95. Your warranty could be voided.

There will be certain circumstances where there is no practical access to RON 95 and above petrol. The owner should drive very gently in these lower RON fuels. However, in SG/Msia we shouldn't be facing such situations.

Presumably you are looking at the S60 T4 Momentum, and not the R-Design?

Spacious and comfortable car. Should come equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Pilot Assist.

Another forummer mentioned that the price diff between RON 92 and 95 is miniscule. So not going to consider 92 anyway.

Yes just the T4 Momentum for wifey.

would u consider the XC40? it has a fair bit of practical touches for ladies - removable trash bin, handbag hook, etc.

And it's not as long as the S60. easier to park.
