Camrysfa Turbocharged June 26, 2018 Share June 26, 2018 Bins everywhere, but sgreans a lot still just throw on floor. You remove the bins, even more will end up on the floor Ya, littering is a problem ...... even visitors have noticed our cleanliness don't have the shine - this letter to the press by an American in 2015 expresses his disappointment. [h=1]What happened to clean Singapore?[/h] I am an American tourist who has visited Singapore several times. In the United States, Singapore has the reputation of being fabulously clean. Yet, when I visited Changi Beach last Saturday, I was shocked to see rubbish everywhere. I began to wonder if a garbage barge sank in the strait, causing paper, snack wrappers, plastic bags, toys, styrofoam, cigarette packages, aluminium cans, plastic food containers, fishing gear and hygiene products to wash up on the beach. Some of these are dangerous to swimmers, children, pedestrians and wildlife. It was the same situation at Changi Village and the boardwalk from Changi Point. The garbage was deliberately tossed away, even though rubbish receptacles are in plain view. I do not understand what has happened in this country, which has long prided itself as the cleanest in Asia. Surely, Singaporeans desire a clean and beautiful country. Maybe visitors and Singaporeans could join together for a clean-up day. I would gladly don rubber gloves and spend some time collecting the unsightly rubbish and putting it in its place. L. R. Camrysfa Turbocharged June 26, 2018 Share June 26, 2018 wow..so power bill going to be reduce for those residents? it is to power common areas like lifts, outside lights, park so tenants still pay the same actually this is already going on in our local coffee shops ... but they only collect the alum cans aggressively. they - being the coffee shop drinks staffs. i rem once when jiajia liangteh had lucky draw, the server would even pull the ring tab off before serving the can drink !! -and keep the tab for herself !! is the demand for scrap alum cans down lately? I do not see the grandpas picking into bins, lately - taking the cans and flatenning them with their foot.
Victor68 Turbocharged June 26, 2018 Share June 26, 2018 If you live in Punggol, West Coast or CCK, your HDB block may have solar panels soon. 5,500 blocks will have it by 2020. The power generated good for 50k plus flats and reduce carbon emissions. solar is something we should explore once this technology reach a matured stage. it is important that the people commissioning this be held accountable on cost in supporting this. ah kong money is not for throwing away, need to justify and let public know how much we spent. agree, if we dont support, it will never be a reality but also cannot anyhow spent. afterall, there are many areas that also need money. The 14,000 sq m farm lies on the roof of 3M's manufacturing plant in Tuas and boasts 6,605 solar panels and 55 inverters. It can generate 2,400 megawatt hours of electricity a year. The solar farm will help 3M reach its 2025 goal of using renewable energy to power a quarter of its global operations.

How much grant did they received? did BCA pay from taxpayer money for the installation?
Adrianli Hypersonic June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 I find the current method of using solar energy is very stupid. The solar panels capture the energy and then store it in the batteries. Then using inverters, converter the DC battery to AC for use. Why dont they just invent DC appliances and use it off the DC batteries? The inverter that converts DC to AC waste lots of energy. I like my current solar panel light setup. From solar panel to battery to led light. No need inverters, cos led runs off dc battery. More efficient.

Vratenza Supersonic June 29, 2018 Share June 29, 2018 If my memory serves me right, AC's benefit is: The major advantage that AC electricity has over DC electricity is that AC voltages can be readily transformed to higher or lower voltage levels, while it is difficult to do that with DC voltages. Since high voltages are more efficient for sending electricity great distances, AC electricity has an advantage over DC https://www.school-for-champions.com/science/ac.htm Googled to confirm not fake news.... cause a long time ago, someone won the AC vs DC war. ↡ Advertisement
