What is the purpose of death?

Shortly before his death, Steve Jobs said, “No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share.”

But why death?

Couldn’t we just dissolve into a pile of ash, fly out of our skin, step into an invisible elevator preprogrammed to go to the highest of all floors, or just mentally fade to black.

People fear death. We spend millions on vitamins, health food, fitness programs, and doctors all to avoid the unavoidable. Or is it unavoidable?

Why are we so terrified of the unknown?

Why do people work so darn hard, sacrificing sleep, sometimes health and relationships to make more money BUT only to spend on an overpriced clothing / watch / mobile phone / restaurant?

Some ladies would skip meals to save money for buying that branded bag.

Some ladies would not blink an eyelid paying hundreds of dollars to have that perfect hair-do but would complain visiting a GP that cost $50.

Some guys buy save and save to buy their dream car BUT cannot afford to drive the car as and when they wish because of financial constraints due to loans and high maintenance.

Some people would drive or take public transport to another town because the fruit there is 10 cent cheaper per pound.

The question is: where it we learn, when did it become acceptable and what made us do all these things?

It's not the price.

Not the money.

But the value and the association of the brand & product.

Ownership gives the sense of attainment. Usage doesn't matter.

No peers can see the amount of $50 consultation, but new hairdo can Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and boomerang.

Can get many many likes.

Medical consultation and medication only treat the physical condition, cannot fill the emotional voids.

I've been told that if you wait and fill up your car when it's almost empty it will damage the fuel pump, and that you should always refill when you are at about a quarter of a tank full or more. Is there any truth behind this, and if so, what is the rationale?

If you want your luggage to be the first coming out on the airport of your destination, what is better: check in your luggage early or late?

Bro I think you may be wrong, because the metal knife you were referring to is non halal.

In one psychiatric hospital, there is a head physician and several patients. After the new medicine intake, all patients suddenly caught a strange “disease” and they always tried to bite someone once a day. Fortunately, this side effect lasted only for one week. When everything was fine again, the doctor noticed that each patient had 2 bites. But the doctor was bitten 100 times.

How many patients were there in the hospital?

Those who can get the answer right, gets the big prize: gets to keep Radx for 1 day (I have not asked if he is willing to donate the prize yet but knowing him, he is likely to be willing).

The answer is 20

After extensive reading, I discovered there may be some truth. I have a very bad habit of driving until near empty because I don't really fancy frequent visit to the petrol station. As I like to tell the uncle "full tank".

Most modern vehicles, the fuel pump is incorporated into the design of the fuel tank. The fuel surrounding the fuel pump actually takes away the heat. Modern fuel pump spins at an incredible high speed. If fuel in the tank is close to near empty, heat builds up in the fuel pump which shortens the life span.

In any case, a small precaution taken may help save you from needing to replace the fuel unnecessarily.

Haha I recommend ngeh ngeh squeeze into cabin luggage. Clear immigration then can go off already. [thumbsup]

One pair of shoes, wash your clothes everyday, don't buy things back. [laugh]  [laugh]

If the fuel pump produces a lot of heat

isn't it dangerous to be so close to petrol?

Actually I don't see the security issue. With a metal knife, what can a terrorist do? He can only stab so many people before he gets taken down.

9/11 happened NOT because the terrorists had knives but because they could take over the cockpit. If metal cutlery were allowed AND access to cockpit is easy, you have a serious problem.

Iirc Malaysian airlines have metal cutlery for economy section as well so no comments on why metal cutlery is allowed on business seriihsection only and not economy section.

911 could happen because the SOP at that time was for passengers/waitresses to sit down and let the terrorists take over.

I always thought the answer was different. Cos in big countries like USA or maybe France or Germany or Australia, it is possible to go over a 100km or more without seeing a gas station. So if your tank is about 1/4 and you don't top up, you run the risk of endangering yourself when your fuel tank runs out of fuel and you are in deserted areas. And along the way people just say fuel pump damage, this damage.... cos it sounds more convincing than your life endangered

So the word spreads. Not really applicable to Singapore cos one must see the context where the advice came from. But it does not mean the advice is not to be followed. We had a case of a BMW that never topped up petrol and ran out of it in the causeway.... if only he topped up a little more before crossing the causeway.
