Sissypoo 1st Gear May 26, 2018 Share May 26, 2018 (edited) so ytd someone took a video of two maids walking their dogs but actually were just chilling under the shade and chatting. he began berating the two supposedly maids for not "doing their job" because their "boss" asked them to walk their dogs but they were sitting there chit chatting. accused them of walking the dogs for 2 mins and sitting down for 1 hour. video poster also say the dogs very poor thing and suffering cos they were not being walked.. well to me the dogs look healthy and happy to be there. having one dog and one helper myself i would have no issues with my helper bringing my dog for a walk with another fellow helper from the neighbourhood. they may be here to work but they still need sometime to socialise? my daughter used to walk my dog before our helper came and she would go down at a certain timing every night to meet one helper from the same block as us who also walked her employer's dog. harmless chit chatting i dont see whats wrong. if he was really concerned i guess he could have talked to them politely instead of taking a video and threatening them. maids/helpers are also humans. what about you guys? do you guys allow your helper some time off each evening to socialise with their friends, for instance walking the dogs. if you saw them downstairs walking your dog with another fellow helper, would you be ok with it? this country needs to chill! https://www.facebook.com/jason.ong.9822/videos/10155688631883215/ Edited May 26, 2018 by Sissypoo ↡ Advertisement

Vratenza Supersonic May 26, 2018 Share May 26, 2018 Kaypoh nothing better to do.... Eat full already no urge to defecate.... Why blame the maids? I know I am going to get flak for this but as an animal lover, it has always irked me that some people buy dogs and yet task someone else to bath the dog, feed the dog, walk the dog.......Everynight come home and just pat the dog for 2min and forget all about it......On Sunday only bring their dog out to show other people that they own a dog.... I know some people do the same to their kids.... but that is a different topic for another time... Personally, I would have loved to own a dog, but I know that I will not be able to give it the attention and time it needs... Letting the maid look after the dog is a personal no no for me.... That's why I refrain from getting one all these years.
BanCoe Hypersonic May 26, 2018 Share May 26, 2018 (edited) It’s very common in the early Mornings and evenings maids get their social time off ; Live and let live.... yes but to go off for 1 hour and just walk 5 mins is ridiculous ; I walk my dog myself in the morning until the fellow get tired for at least 20 mins and evening let the maid do it .... she feels good too to walk him ( though i know she will “Alibaba “ too for around 40 mins and walk him for only 10-15 mins as I know he (dog) can’t take it and will protest and sit down ; Also my maid always looks forward to walking him as she knows she gets that social break ..... One thing good is at the Golden got a water tray infront of him so the owner knows to keep his dog hydrated Edited May 26, 2018 by BanCoe

Celicar Turbocharged May 28, 2018 Share May 28, 2018 I am jumping into the fire here. Sure, maids need time off and perhaps there are 1001 other ways to bring the message across to the maids, but I have issue with wholeheartedly siding with the maids. I do not think there is a straighforward equation between time and having a dog. I agree that having a dog comes with responsibilities, beyond a 2 min pat on the head per day. But there is so many ways to take care of a dog. With a family, the responsibility can be shared. The minimum is not to mistreat the dog, some will say that ignoring it is already a form of mistreatment, but I think if the dog has a roof over its head, is kept free from disease and illness and have enough to eat and drink, then it is already much better off compared to many other dogs. Some people have time during the weekends but not weekdays, that's just life. If the equation between time and having dogs/kids is that straightforward, then those who are jobless or retired are the ones who should have dogs and kids, which obviously makes no sense. To me, asking the maids to walk the dog is like asking them to do any other proper task. So if the maids were asked to walk the dogs, I don't see why they cannot do it while strolling along and talking. The dogs get the exercise, they get the social time. Qualifiers: I am not saying that the man chiding the maids is correct. Neither am I saying that the maids did not do their tasks, because we don't know if they have already walked the dogs and are resting after that. Vratenza Supersonic May 28, 2018 Share May 28, 2018 Appreciate your point of view. As I said, my view might be controversial or even to the spectrum of being a little extreme. But the general idea is the same as poaching: when the demand stops, the killing will too. In general, most dogs in modern society originate from dog breeders due to demand. Those strays that ends up in SPCA or being culled are the result of previously owned dogs being let loose to fend for themselves. So if we cannot afford the full time and attention to loving and caring for the dog, not buying it will be the first step one has to consciously learn to take to really love an animal. those who really love to have a loving partnership with a dog, can choose to adopt a rescued one from SPCA, provided they have the time and capacity to properly care for one till the end of it's short lifespan. now to the issue of maids taking the dog for walk. One can deem it as a household chore just like washing of your car (which by itself also controversial). But is walking a living breathing pet with emotions really considered household chore? If my maid need social time, I give her social time. I am jumping into the fire here. Sure, maids need time off and perhaps there are 1001 other ways to bring the message across to the maids, but I have issue with wholeheartedly siding with the maids.
