UncleAtas Turbocharged May 4, 2018 Share May 4, 2018 Cut & Paste. In ceramic coating, its compounds protect your car against weather, bird droppings, scratches, dust, spills and other things that ordinary wax usually cannot fix, as well has having a durability that lasts for 4-6 months. A ceramic-coating process required heating in order to make sure the bonding is complete. It is in fact a 70s technology. In glass coating, it bonds to your vehicle’s paint on a molecular level almost immediately upon application. This ensures that the car’s paint remain insulated against chemical attacks from all forms of environmental pollutants. Professional applicators have mostly converted to glass coating because of its durability and ease of application. Choosing between the two is not too difficult if you know what you want. If you prefer the quick and easy way, seek durability, glass-like shine and more protection for your paint, you might want to try ceramic-coating products. If you are willing to spend more and are willing to wait a bit longer for the coating process than a glass coating is for you. Contrary to marketing myth, all coatings have a life span and eventually need to be reapplied. The right way to ensure the lasting effect is to engage professional detailer who possess in-depth technical know how to treat your vehicle right. Maddriver 4th Gear May 4, 2018 Share May 4, 2018 muahaha..looks like various answers to this question..anyway boils down to one belief and pocket depth..muahaha Ceramic Coating is a resin that bonds to factory clearcoat andcross-links to form a hard chemical resistant clearcoat that lasts forthe life of the car. Glass coatings and Titanium coatings are nanoparticles that are dissolved in a carrier solution and form a film asthe solvent dries. There is no bonding and also as it dries there can bevoids between the nano particles.
shrjun 5th Gear May 7, 2018 Share May 7, 2018 just pseudoscience terms. You obviously can't have ceramic or glass poured out of a bottle at room temperature.they're both some kind of coating which offers some protection but not to the extent of manufacturer or detailer claims. You will still need to wash the car regularly and with some care ( not the HDB car washers or petrol pump guys ) . Heman75 Supercharged May 7, 2018 Share May 7, 2018 come to think of it.. if you always park under shade under clean environment and wash your car daily .. i dont think you need any coating ... maybe just simple waxing will do. typically such coating will cost you between 400 to 1000 SGD with yearly maintenance of maybe 150sgd.. maybe after 3 year the money save can get you a new spray of paint. however, if you are me where the car alway under sun and in jurong industrial area and only wash once a week.. coating does help in your maintenance of the car with ease of washing . but do note nothing is 100% proof .. it will still scratch and stain.. just slower creating a barrier to contaminants. kopfan 3rd Gear February 12, 2019 Share February 12, 2019 Hard waxing to protect car clear coat is still the best. Strip the wax and reapply a new coat every 3-6 months.
Mollyvelar July 14, 2019 Share July 14, 2019 There is a big difference between a Liquid Glass coat (produced from 2000- until today) or a ceramic coating (produced from 2008- until today). The first point is, that only ceramic (polysilazane) coatings coating can create real covalent bonds to car paint, while liquid glass coatings can only bond to surface with a lot of OH-Groups (polar surfaces). That means: you will get a higher durability with real ceramic coatings. Furthermore they are much thicker (up to 30-200times) than a liquid glass coat, which results in a protection against micro-scratches. Not the big one with your keys :-)...the small one from the car wash! https://nano-care.com/news/nanocare-blog/ceramic-coating/ In this blog there is also a hint to avoid scam, and separate real ceramic coatings from copies or plagiates. So I would recommend Liquid Glass coatings for polar surfaces like glass (windshields, windows) and ceramic coatings for bodywork, wheels and plastic parts ↡ Advertisement
