Smartstream is the newer engine and IVT gearbox as used in the current Avante.

Newer engine and gearbox but price cheaper than family sedan?

So I think sooner or later the 6AT variant with the older engine will be remove from SG market and only offered 2022 “facelift engine” with smart stream which is IVT same Avante. It also quite weird that a current selling variant get updated engine option suddenly, side by side you won’t even notice until open the engine bay that you’re driving the latest variant.

Don’t make sense to offer same car with 2 different 1.6 NA engine option. Hope they will bring in GT-Line SS engine option too.

Ya a few weeks back my Kia SE was telling me they were having discounts to clear the now prev gen units... ~120-125k only... But the colours werent what i liked so didnt bite the bullet...

First time I see $120-125K only for a 1.6 L family sedan... how our perspectives have changed...

$120-$125k only cause if this is the cheapest family sedan that you can find, if compared to the rest family sedan which cost at least $135k or more. Lol. Since you cannot go back to that era that a family sedan you can buy at below $90k liao.

Any news of the Smartstream version from your SE? Not sure if the features are the same as the previous model.

Its easy to type the word "only" but not easy to have the financial capability to buy it.

You suka suka see Mitsubishi Attrage also need 100k liao. $125k for a full size family sedan of course considered "cheap" la. :D

But ah, the sales has definitely been impacted. Walked in to KIA showroom which is cold and quiet last Sunday (even the sales person is not standing by the counter to serve walk in customers).

I couldn't find any sales person to speak to when i was there last Sunday, not more to say finding the price list/brochure to outline the new features included in the car.

But what I see based on the display unit, it seems like the basic trim (15" rims) have all wheel disc brakes (vs drum brakes on the rear) in the outgoing model. I think cruise control is also standard now.

At this current coe level, i really wonder who will still walk into car showroom to buy car? Maybe those who walk into car showroom is just to past time and see look only, no intention of buying.

I always think the same as you. But i am starting to doubt. With the rocketing COE prices, COE tickets are still snapped up every bidding. There must be a demand somewhere, be it fleet expansion or individual buyers who really need a car.

COE in sg is very unique. No matter when the coe is low, high or super high, there is still a high demand for it. 😅

Specs are out, Smartstream models looks to be downgrade feature wise compared to previous non-Smartstream. Smartstream EX seems to mirror specs of previous base L model and Smartstream SX seem to fall in between previous EX & GT-Line models, shockingly SX also come with 15-inch rims.

Not sure why C&C is doing this, thought being in Band A2 means they can at least keep the features intact or add more, judging from this, they will just drive more buyers to the much better speced Avante.

I guess some pple might appreciate that the Cerato minimally is 132K and maybe with discounts, it might be appealing for people who want a new car at below 130K at current prices

If the features downgraded but price also cheaper than avante, think there would still be people buy cerato. Not everyone wants so many features in the car.

15" rims are typically lighter. This will definitely help in the numbers when homologation is done. It seems like Avante still has a better feature set.
